A Bert Nettleship comes to mind with me but I can't for the life of me remember why. Steel/engineering could be the answer as I visited loads of factories and workshops with my job.

The "UK-Info Disk" (based on the 2004 electoral rolls) lists 49 Nettleships in Sheffield, with another 40+ in the surrounding area. There's a "family forum" here: http://genforum.genealogy.com/nettleship/

When I was at Woodthorpe School juniors in the 1940's, there was an Enid Nettleship in my class. I think she lived in the prefabs on Stradbroke Road.

There was a Stuart Nettleship at High Storrs (leaving in '71 I think).

His family ran a scrap metal business.

He was very keen on music. I was pleased to see his Friends Reunited post. He clearly finished up doing what he loved - ie teaching and writing music.

Hi there,
I know an Alan Nettleship, who lives in Beighton Sheffield.
I can, with his permission give you a phone number and address if you want to contact him directly.

He was a neighbour so I don't really know about his other family members apart from a Daughter, who works at the Hallamshire Hospital and her kids.
Cheers.

I was just about to write that I remember a Gill Nettleship - I thought she was Gillian, but could be wrong. I have the feeling she was a newcomer in primary school, Wincobank County Primary, so the family must have moved ther between 1960-65

Hi, Wow, yes I remember my Grandmother talking about 'our Olive'. I used to spend weekends up at Honeysuckle Rd when I was a kid, and all the family used to be there every christmas day too.
I live in Ireland now, Ive been here for 21 years, I lost touch with Gladys, Colin and everyone when my parents split up there wasn't any contact really, but I think my Sister in Sheffield may have seen them all at my Dads funeral a few years back.(families eh!!)
