I was barred from the Casbah and physically thrown out by the dwarf bouncer. (me a little girl)

All because I was saying in a rather loud voice that they should f**k the Casbah not rock it, as this is was and always shall be... the WAPENTAKE!!!!!

They didn't like me, I was also reprimanded for stating that Olga was the best landlady every to have run the place and she would have had a fit if the bouncers treated customers the way they did.

Marching around looking menacing with their little in ear headsets. Picking on anyone trying to have a laugh.

Where have all the good pubs gone?

I do, thankfully but don't understand why there is this constant need to make every bar in town the same. Same dodgy bouncers, same crappy music. At least the wap was different.

I used to drink in there a year or so ago with a work colleague before she left.....I used to find that one of the barmen would constantly ignore the women waiting to be served and just serve the men!!

One night he went to serve a bloke before me and this time the bloke said 'oh this lady was before me....!!' (nice man) the barman looked really agitated that he'd ended up having to serve us......so I said something sarcastic....he was very rude back....in fact family forum en all ....I cannot repeat it!!

Never been in since.....

so rock and indie on a friday night is the same as everywhere else?

its getting knocked down soon anyway so they will probably not spend anything on it.

I used to like the place, but last time i tried to go they wouldn't let me in to a rock night on a friday. First they said I was wearing sports wear, i was wearing combats and a t-shirt, then they said no trainers - I was wearing boots, then they said I just wasn't allowed in, was wearing your typical rockers clothing and I don't look like trouble, probably wasn't trendy enough, i pointed out the big notice saying - no dress code and wear what you like, and they told me to get lost, then forcibly ejected a friend they had already let in. So went to the trendy Forum instead and they let me in with no questions. Needless to say I won't be going back again. Shame it was a nice place

 Ah the Wap: Stick to the floor (literately), drink lots of Newcastle Brown (don't ever get anything from a pump) go completely deaf and head on down to Rebels for the remainder of the evening and do much the same. Them were the days... Sigh

Casbah is a poor substitute, but then I'm old and care not for the ways of the shiny shirted ones.

ROFLMAO @ fearful. Ahhh Rebels, if you could get all the way to the top you deserved to get in! Didnt matter that you rolled all the way back down at chuckin out time.

My brother has one of the official rebels t-shirts from back in the day, keep trying to nick it but hes having none of it.

Used to go in the Limit, plastic glasses, feet stickin to the floor, passed out people in the back corner, ahhh I remember it well, I think anyway, it was always so dark!
I gotta say bouncers are getting aggressive these days and seem to be a law unto themselves. These days theres no dress code and trainers are generally allowed so bouncers tend to pick on you for various obscure reasons. Leadmill, Mingdom and Casbah seem to employ the missing link on their doors, we got turned away from Takapuna a couple of Saturdays ago cos one of the lads had a 'skate boarders' coat on, the bouncer didn't appreciate the fact that upon removing the offending garment the bloke was wearing a very nice shirt and trousers, not even jeans. You can't complain though unless you go to the trouble of writing in cos the bouncer won't let you in.
