Brian Sedgemore Labour MP for 27 years has joined the ranks of Lib Dems. Hearing him on the today programme I was astounded to hear his prediction that (tens) of retiring Labour MP's will be tearing their party cards up after the election. What a pity they haven't got the guts to do it before.

I think that this illustrates that Mr Blair is despised just as much from within the party as from outside it.

Could mean more votes in the bag for Charles Kennedy though.

This man has been an anti-blairite from the start and he has just waited till the time when he thinks he can do maximum damage to defect.

Don't think it will put that many votes in the lib dem camp but it will get people thinking more.

Im still having labour to win again with a thumping majority!

Mr Sedgemore was in the Labour Party when Tony Blair was still at his public school, so he hasn't recently arrived on the scene just to make booing noises has he?

Of course he has timed the event, thats the idea isn't it? Thats what happens in the world of politics.

But then you get the likes of this one ;
Oh it just like the Okie Kokie

But then Paul Marsden, Labour MP for Shrewsbury & Atcham, who defected to the Lib-Dems, defected back to Labour on 06 April.

And of course, former Tory government minister Robert Jackson, and MP for Wantage, defected to Labour fairly recently. Indeed, since Labour came to office in 1997, a total of 3 Conservative MPs have defected to Labour.

Brian Sedgemore is a bitter, twisted, disloyal individual, he has used the Labour party for his convenience, to keep his job and luxurious lifestyle, whilst stabbing the party he has relied on in the back.
He has consistently voted against the Government, on evey issues when they needed his support, well good shut to him I say, with friends like him, who needs enemies !!!
