It would be very useful if the moderators could change titles such as "Swap wanted" or "Stuff For Sale" to something more descriptive. Its kind of obvious something is for sale in the For Sale section!

Is this not the poster's responsibility? It would waste mod time which is merely volunteered, I guess... Return them for repost, instead? That would make the forum more self-managing and encourage good practice.

It bugs me as well, so you're right to highlight it. And I think Woody's "return them for repost" would be more workable.

The problems comes when people advertise more than just a couple of items in one thread. You can't possibly list 10 items in the title, yet naming just a few of them could mean people missing out on the unmentioned items.
