How do people cope with knitting under the influence?

Generally I used to cope by not doing it- it takes so much longer to go back and undo it when you spot the flamingo ups at a later stage! (a flamingo up is like a cock up but bigger)

A nice plain garter stitch something is the way to go if you can't be trusted to go around and around on a sock or a hat.

I can do the roundy roundy sock type stuff, but I seem to get a an overwhelming desire to knit intricate lace when I've had too much pinot grigio.

I hide any lace before drinking, leaving a sock out to muck up is much safer for my sanity.

The point where I finally realised that I can't drink and knit was when I exclaimed ¨oh look I have mastered knitting both socks at the same time¨

To which the reply was ¨but there is only one on your needles¨

A lot of frogging the next day...

Interestingly, providing it's a relatively simple pattern I can crochet without watching it at all (as demonstrated at various cinemas!) so maybe the answer is to take up crochet instead?

i can crochet and knit simply whilst wasted, it's more how to handle the desire to battle colourwork, lace or steeks that gets me every time. I haven't knitted at all tonight, as my only wip is one which I'm being paid for.

Steeking is something Ive often thought about but am too scared to try :hihi:

Plain stuff I can manage, I've not attempted anything more complicated.
I do know it's possible to get red wine stains out of the WIP though :D

I have a garter stitch Dr Who scarf that i'm doing for my husband which is great for such occasions!
