What school did you go to and what was it like around Sheffield derby time?

I went to Birley and remember the sheer intensity of the Blades v Owls games at dinner in the week leading up to the game. Tackles flying in and both sides desperate to come out on top!

I had also gone to the trouble of decorating one of my exercise books in United photos cut out of the Green Un. Needless to say after we beat Wednesday 2-1 (2001 season) the cover was literally torn to shreds in front of my eyes by Wednesday fans in my class. A small price to pay for the win!

Yeah, I remember the season after we got relegated from the prem- suddenly there were a lot more United fans at my school. All came out of the woodwork :P ;)

Stocksbridge School 89-93, it was like Pigsville.

Still loads of em went quiet when we did the double over em in 91/92.

Still see a few of the lads from School, fair to say the majority of em have slipped back into the wood work and don't really bother watching the pigs these days.

I went to Super Gleadless Valley until it got knocked down then Handsworth Grange another top school, when i was at Valley i was in the minority being an owl because of the catchment,
saying that i never used to get that much hassle as i used to turn up in allsorts of teams shirts, Blackburn, Spurs, Liverpool, Newcastle, whoever was winning at the time lol. It wasn't that bad at Handsworth Grange bit of half half really and a lot of kids being bandwagon supporters (says me lol).

When I was in Y7 at All Saints it was the year Wedneday got relegated, then it was all down hill after that I couldn't argue with United fans a great deal. The only time I can remeber beating them while I was at school was in the Worthington Cup, Ekoku scored I think. It sounds stupid but I really enjoyed the two seasons in league one. The were the times when I'd be going to all home and most away games, the ground may have been small but I enjoyed that more because you knew your fellow fans were the loyal ones. So if United fans ever had a go, I used to be realistic and say they may be in a better league but I'd always say I was a better fan than them.
