Calling All Sheffielders!

The Escafeld Medieval Society is currently looking for new members. :D

We are a friendly close knit group based in the city who perform medieval tournaments and other themed events for the public at castles, country houses and galas the length and breadth of the country. The name of the group comes from the Norman name for the city.

All ages are welcome, and whilst most of our members portray knights and ladies of the 13th century, any role in character is possible, be it monk, peasant or jester. Our youngest member is 10 and our oldest just turned 74, and he is still fighting in our full contact combat displays!

Full training with a wide variety of weaponry is provided by our experienced members, with opportunities to do medieval archery as well as work with sword and shield. We also socialise, with trips out and about, along with the fabulous Winter Medieval Banquet for members and guests.

But this must cost a fortune? I hear you say. Like all hobbies there is a cost involved, but many of our costumes are home made using authentic materials and other accesories can be obtained at one of the many medieval markets found at the larger festivals across the country. We also have advisors on hand to give advice and help for all members who need to manufacture or purchase that next "must have" bit of kit.

If interested, please don't hesitate to contact us at the following email address: info@escafeld.org.uk quoting "MEMBERSHIP" in the subject line, or check out our website for pictures and more in depth information, we can be found at www.escafeld.org.uk

We also have monthly meetings for members and guests in Sheffield, the next one is at 2pm on the 17th August at the Wisewood Inn, Loxley.

With best wishes,

The Escafeld Medieval Society
