I have read & followed the post from Shudnobetter
http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37339
& seen the same scenario's played over that I witnessed at school myself 25 years ago.
I am bewildered that any education authority allows this behaviour to continue :loopy: .

Lots of people have shared their kind thoughts, advice, sympathy & empathy.

But it's got me wondering, how many of you have ever been a bully yourself, and indeed have the spine to fess up to it on here?

Did you do it for fun, for sport, were you aware that you were hurting someone else at all? Do you care less, even now?

Are you indeed an adult bully?
I left my 16yr employment in the NHS due to the bullying nature of some collegues.

You are out there.
Stand up & be critcised (counted).
Even the ones guilty of sending abusive pm's as illustrated

I bullied my little brother a lot when I was young. It was all in jest I think and we are really close even today.

But it's funny how much more vividly he remembers it than me...
I guess all bullying is bad!

Yes, my older brother (by approx 20 yrs) has little recollection of the hurtfull things he used to do & say to me, too!
I remember them very well, and have reminded him of such, too, recently - he was shocked! :D

I was bullied all through school, so I know what it's like. I did gain the ability to run damned fast, though, despite my short stature. Of course, now i'm 6'3" and can go even faster, and people are less likely to try it on...

anyway, to answer the question, yes I have. I'm not proud of it and, to be honest, when I realised that the victim didn't think it was funny I stopped (all in jest has to go both ways!)

Thanks for this, please expand on the jest going both ways?

Never picked on anyone else. Ever.

I've never thought bullying was funny, and can't imagine why anyone would think that making someone else miserable was "fun." Frankly, I think bullies are begging for bad karma, and I've always steered clear of those who thought picking on someone else was their idea of a good time.

I only had trouble with a bully once as a child, when I was about 9 yrs. old and my babysitter's son thought it would be amusing to make my life hell. I took care of him. Heh.

I've always been the type of person who never goes looking for trouble, and avoids it when I can. I won't start a fight, but if I have to, I WILL finish it.

I was bullied by a group of boys at school for a couple of years - I treated it as the usual crap that gets dealt out to people who can read by teh idiots who can't.

Thanks Shirley Williams....you made part of my teenage years miserable at least!

Anyway, time came when due to the way the school worked one of the bullies was lopped off from his colleagues who were on a different physical site of the school.

I grabbed this little squit, who was definitely the weakling of the group, and beat the crap out of him. In fact I didn't even hear the bell go because I was so engrossed in my work and so picked up about a month's worth of detention when the teachers came to separate us.

It was fantastic. :)

Never got trouble from any of them again.

Terrific Joe!

I love hearing stories like this. I personally feel that this is all some people understand, unfortunately. I couldn't do the same to my bully, as he was bigger than I was, but...(with the unwitting cooperation of his ex-navy seal father) I got him back.

And my, how satisfying it was!

Well, always glad to oblige, Mo.

Funnily enough, we Mods want to see the admissions of some of the users for exactly the same reasons. Such expertise must start young. :)

It was.

I just got the opportunity to do my homework before leaving for home.

My school never quite got to grips with dealing with intelligent kids in detention - they used to sit us in the library which was hell for the dimbos but rather good fun for me. :)

A year or two later I picked up another detention for a non-violent piece of trouble I got in to and was expected to spend my time doing a project on the history of concrete. (Vaguely related to my offense - I drew a chess board on a paving slab and was done for graffitiing :D ). It was really interesting.... :)

I was bullied at school, for not wearing the right clothes, due to not having much money in our family to keep up with silly fashions.

I was quite outspoken though and generally talked my way out of most situations without resorting to violence.

Looking back on these events with the benefit of hindsight, common sense and experience, some of my retaliation could well have been bullying. I had quite an acid tongue and used my relative intelligence to put down the thicker bullies.

At the time it felt like survival, but now it feels more like tit for tat and could well have provoked the unwanted attention as much as push it away.

For my conscience, I never 'bullied' anyone who hadn't deserved it by starting it, but I don't think this is a totally reliable defence.......

I never bullied anyone, but I have turned a blind eye. With hindsight, I think this is just a bad. :(
