View Full Version : Walking to work along The Moor
the fonz 25-04-2005, 14:58 I walk along the moor to work and see the same set of faces everyday.
With the forum being the all powerful tool that it is, and the stats about the numbers of members being right it would be fair to assume that some of you walk to work the same way.
So, as a bit of an experiment is there anyone reading this who does walk to work along the moor?
No, but know what you mean. I used to see the same girl walking in the opposite direction me every day. Then I saw her in the Fat Cat and felt like I was seeing an old friend....
Perhaps Forum-ers should have a secret sign? I suggest walking sideways like a crab.

I walk down the moor every morning, between around half 7 and 8. Usually come onto the moor where the Golden Dragon is, call in GT News for a paper, then off the Moor again down the road by Poundland. But not for much longer, our firms moving to Carlisle Street, should be gone by the end of this week.
jessycar 25-04-2005, 15:57 I used to work down the Moor and when I started in the afternoons I used to end up doing a zig zag down it avoiding the clipboard people.
At first i thought you meant the Yorkshire Moors when you said you walk ALONG, I imagined you walking along the SNAKE to work !
Somebody's been away too long
That's what the capital letters on The Moor were for
depends. If I'm energetic I walk to work and gut down Fitzallen st. If I'm fairly energetic I'll get a bus and then cu down Fitzallen st. If I'm hungover, injured or very early I will walk down the Moor. Often seen around 7 am....

Grahamfff 25-04-2005, 17:48 Yes - I walk to work along the Moor - time varies, usually between 8 and 8.40am.
I get the bus home, though!
redrobbo 25-04-2005, 17:52 Yes, I walk both ways along The Moor most days, but my times vary. Because of that, I don't tend to see the same faces though.
*Twinkle* 25-04-2005, 19:09 I drive past the bottom of the moor several times in the morning (6.40am then 8.25am) and see the same people waiting for the bus, or sat on the seats outside atkinsons... I often wonder if I'm noticing someone I know off here lol

Its not quite the same thing but I normally get the same bus and the same people are sat in the same seats every morning.
In fact sometimes I worry if people aren't there or if the bus goes early and people aren't at their stops cos I know they've missed it and will be waiting flippin ages.
Wow I am sad!
the fonz 25-04-2005, 20:18 Is is weird, i used to commute to leeds and saw the same people everyday on the train, i probably spent more time with them than i do some of my friends but if i ever saw them out and about in sheffield i never said hello.
I walk down the moor (not the moors) between about 8:25 and 8:45, and it would be good to say hello to some fellow forum members.
WallBuilder 25-04-2005, 20:39 I can't often be found on the Moor but in the area that I live a lot of the locals [myself included] seem to know an awful lot of people., I can't decide whether it's my looks or the dog that people recognise.
For the last two days I've been wearing my forum tea-shirt and nobody has given it a second glance, maybe I should go and wander up and down the Moor.

I walked down the moor every morning for 4 years, then i moved to retford, so that put the kybosh on that, and no one missed me, but that was back in the ZX81 days
