Either constantly take it out until you defeat it or get some stuff that you add to the water that is safe to fish and most plants but kills that weed. Not sure what its called tho.

Put a bunch of barley in the pond. Sounds wierd but that's waht my parents do. No idea where they get it from unless it's just out of a field!

Put a bunch of barley in the pond

Should be Barley straw and most aquatic shops will sell small net bags of the stuff.

Don't know about blanket weed, but if your pond is murky, you should buy some organic watercress from the supermarket, root it up in some water, then put it in your pond. That clears the water a treat.

the only way to remove it or prevent it is to stop the sunlight hitting the water. the uv rays encourage growth.
i hade the same problem a few years ago & i combination of the following helped.
increase plant life , lillies etc when they grow, ought to cover 50% of the pond surface .
barley straw is ineffective for all but alittle of the stuff, pop in a couple of new fish, i think it is orfe that eat the stuff faster than gold fish - but not fast enough to clear your pond up (think of the belly)
in march /april pop a few drops of anti algae stuff from the pet shop - this dies the water blue & prevents the uv rays getting to work.
hope it works for you - however you could be fighting a loosing battle this year as the sun has already started work on pond water.

Most Aquatic places have something that you can add to the water now that slows the growth down... and it does actually work... think its called blacket remover or something.

Not that expensive either. They say you only need to do it once every 3 months or something too.

if you want a permanat solution to your problem don't use the chemicals or barley straw they are a complete waste of money all you need is a laguna magnit you fit it between your pomp and your filter and it costs £29.99
