I am looking for somewhere nice to take our lass for her birthday meal in a couple of weeks. I am looking to take her to either a nice Indian or English restaurante. The english can't be too posh because we hate snobby places.

We just looking for somewhere nice and reasonably central so we can go for a couple of drinks after.

Thanks.

Try Kumquat Mae on Abbeydale Road.
The food is gorgeous and you can take your own bubbly.

Try Fishers or the Old Vicarage. Depending on what part of town you are from its not that far either.

The food is lovely its obviously a little more expensive than the run-of-the-mill restaurants in town but im sure the lady will love it -both of the restaurants seem that little more special.

If you are wanting to have some drinks there are lovely pubs out that way too. My boyfriend took me for my last birthday and i was well impressed x

I can reccommend spinrocks in crookes - spanish restaurant. go for one of the platters, and get about 10 courses of differnet things, very nice indeed.

I can recommand The Mangla on Spital Hill. I know its not the best of locations however you wont get a better Indian meal this side of Bradford! It is excellently priced also. A starter and main course for two people probably around £16. Mmmmmm! Cubana and Blue Fin are really good too.

Bistro Casablanca on Regents Terrace just off West Street is good.

Antiobos in West One - better than average Italian restuarant, and close to good pubs
