I dont think leadmill has much to offer anymore.

Embrace is liek a maze

Plug is a good size, and your right, definately for the younger and even younger generation.

DQ is a joke :P

yeah it needs a good clean, and the stairs... they are killer.

Don't get much trouble there though except when people step outside, it all kicks off.

Roughest Nightclub?

has to be vibe?

No mention of Nylon?

It's being done up isn't it?

Or up for sale?

The Sheffield nighlife is pretty dire these days it's all much of a muchness, but if I have to pick one as the best I'd go for Plug. As the worst I'd say Embrace as it's full of Chavs and is o tacky with it's Embrace dancers every half hour.

Corporation's got to be the best. The music sucks, they've been playing the same songs for the last four years, but the people are good. Embrace is pretty damn crap.

Ive always liked DQ's and had a brilliant night at New Year.. Nylon is good too.

I was in Crystal last weekend and it reminded me of a tacky wedding reception / school disco so this would be my worst!!

Friendliest: PLUG, also Dempseys and Club Xes.

Can't think of a 'worst' club that I have been to, but I have found the attitude of SOME of the staff who work/worked at AFFINITY really upsetting and INSENSITIVE, re. certain issues concerning me. Can't say any more about it, and I must emphasise that I have had NO PROBLEM with the overwhelming majority of staff and the management at Affinity; the individual or individuals who had a 'problem' with me (they work on only certain days of the week) know who I am referring to lol.

I've been living in Sheffield go 12 years now and think the club scene has gone really downhill. My favourite was the Music Factory aka Bed nightclub. Its sacrilege that its been turned into a Sainburys local!
The Adelphi in Attercliffe where Gatecrasher was back in the day is also another firm favourite and also the Arches down the Wicker - very underground.

I hate DQ and Plug and can proudly say I’ve never set foot in Embrace!
These days I tend to go to underground parties in secret locations around the city. There’s a really good underground music scene in Sheffield and I tend to opt for these parties rather than night clubs.

HoweverI would have to say though that my favourite club at the moment is Penelopes on Arundel Gate, just next to the Odeon. Its a small, intimate space with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. They do a great rare disco/soulful night called Pseudo 54 – next one is Sat 6th Sept. I would strongly recommend going to this club on this night if you haven’t been.

There ahve been some great club nights in Sheffield, the plasma lounge at Gatecrasher was amazing in its hayday with fantastic residents playing the best soulful house for miles around! This was followed by Bed wish was also a great success hosting at the time some of the world's best Dj's.
Not sure what's happened over the past year or so but like other people I feel that Plug has taken over and wants the monopoly on clubbing in Sheffield, where have all the independent nights like Pin-Up, Remedy and Scuba gone? That's what we need more of in this town!
These days I travel far and wide to go clubbing but can find some satisfaction in a night called Pseudo 54 down at Penelope's. It happens on a Saturday every other Month, and sticks to what it knows with a mix of quality residents from Sheffield and other cities. If you're into having a good hastle free time, that'll keep you glued to the dance floor all night then this is the night for you, next one 6th September, with the infamous Dino (former Bed Resident), just what the Sheffield Scene needs, see you there!

Hmmm, sounds tempting.

I'm still to check out Penelope's and now i know Dino's playing i could be tempted this weekend. Let's hope this missus is up for it!

WORST PUB/CLUB-WESTWAYS. Used to be a really nice pub then they started watering down the drinks and serving you flat coke with ya vodka and there's no air con.
BEST PUB/CLUB-REFLEX/FLAIRS. Sorry has to be said it is an ace place where you can go and have a laugh and not feel like a fool for not being able to dance, cause no one else cn in there.

Exactly what do you mean by ferrile approach to world domination & supporting lost causes via S America??? Have we done something to upset you?

We wish you every success at Shhhhh and hope you continue to host great underground nights.

Sheffield needs more great venues.

I think you may have got your venues mixed up there.

I would hardly call the Plug a dive.

Will completely agree on this..A decent night out what started off as a little thing as made huge steps over the last year. For some strange reason i have only been twice. Once @ Plug and the other @ Void. Great atmosphere in what is deffinately a safe atmosphere and both young & old just go for one hell of a party. Not sure of the line up this month but i know Aly & Fila are there. Enjoy it.
