We have a little brown guinea pig called lyle. his brother, Tate, has recently had a scratching issue which resulted in him now having a bald spot. (i now call him friar tate)

but since he got better, the other one lyle has stopped puttng weight on his left front leg. he just holds it to his body all the time. he' going to the vets tonight, and my girlfriend is worried as a friend has mentioned the word "stroke". I've said that it iw was a stroke, he wouldn't be walking at all, let alone jumping from the top of the house.

Anyone experienced similar things, and and advice greatfully recieved.

You'd be better if you asked the Mods to transfer this to the Pets Section - there's an awful lot of knowledgeable (and helpful) folk who post on that section.

I hope the visit to the vets goes well.

I am no expert but if not trimmed, a guinea pigs claws can grow into a curl or spiral and can cause bald patches if the animal scratches itself. They can also be quite painful for them to stand on if they are too long. May be worth a quick look at that

He may have pulled or strained his leg so going to the vet is the sensible action to take.

the bald spot could be to do with mites or fungal.

On his leg, is there any swelling? Some pigs react badly to the heat, I know of a few breeders who's pigs have gone lame because of the weather
