We've been here (http://www.ysp.co.uk/view.asp?id=1) today.

It's a great place and not far away. Only £3 to park no entrance fee. Great for the kids to run about (not that i had any with me), and i can see it being interesting to see what they think some of the sculpture are.

Fuzzy,

It's a fantastic place. Been taking my kids there since they were tiny, and now they're teenagers they still enjoy it. Great place to go with a picnic, although the cafe is also good.

Forgot took us 30 mins to get there, quicker than going to Chatsworth and not as much hassle or cost

Been going there (Sculpture Park) for over 15 years - brilliant place for a day out with the kids / picnic etc.

Some of the Henry Moore & Hepworth stuff is awesome - the landscape could be made for it - sculpture much more alive and real than in a sterile art gallery. Anybody remember the magnifcent brass sculpture exhibition they had in the late 80's - eg the 20ft high horse?

Don't forget to look for the herons nesting in the trees by the lake.

I remember camping there as a kid in the 60's (anybody remember the Camping Club, South Yorks DA?). My brother learned to swim in the lake at Bretton Hall.

5 years on from this thread, went yesterday and saw Peter Randall-Page's superb pieces in the absolutely magnificent underground gallery.

We are so lucky to have this place 45 minutes away. If you haven't been, do yourself a favour.

I went in the summer last year and had a lovely time with a friend. We even had afternoon tea on the balcony of the restaurant.

As entry is free, I don't begrudge them making a few quid from the parking

I love this place, neither of us are arty-types but we really enjoy the combination of sculpture and country park. Perhaps we are arty really!

One of my very favourite places. We've been going there for years and it was always great but I also love the changes especially the underground gallery.

I intend to take acid there this summer. It will be immense.

it's 3 quid to park your car now? I never paid anything if I remember right.

they really make an effort and it's a great inexpensive day out with loads of opportunities to take daft photos in front of the exhibits.

Not been to Yorkshire sculpture park yet but intend to. Before Christmas I went to Chatsworth sculpture gardens and it was magnificent! Wish I could figure out how to download pics onto this site as I could show you! I was most impressed by Anthony Gormley's 'angel of the north' (smaller version) and want to go and steal it for my garden. There's some superb sculptures there but not only that ...the gardens themselves are sculptures - and so many different trees and plants! I've no prob with the £7 entrance fee (It's only the same as going to the cinema) The Devonshires do so much for Derbyshire and should be applauded. :)
