View Full Version : Wholesome FAST FOOD mmmm ... Jamie 24-04-2005, 21:23 Why don't 'they' ... make fast food that's wholesome !? JoeP 24-04-2005, 21:55 I'm not convinced that such a thing is possible, though if there are any lawyers from the fast food companies reading this, the products of their companies are always nutritious and delicious. Actually....sushi? That should be done quickly and be fresh, and rice, seaweed and raw fish should be pretty good for you (mercury and toxins in the fish permitting). Joe Jamie 25-04-2005, 08:57 Actually Joe, I've decided this was rather a bad idea for a thread!! Perhaps something like "Healthy alternatives to fast food?" would have been better idea ...... Examples of fast food chains would be: 1. Mc Donalds. 2. Burger King. 3. KFC. 4. Pizza Hut (maybe). Fast food is fatty and just kinda feels yucky somehow. Alternatives I can think of are: 1. Sandwich Shops. (and that's my alternatives list well and truely exhausted!). Anybody else have an good ideas for alternatives to fast food? p.s. Joe. I've never had sushi, are there any local sushi places? Longshanks 25-04-2005, 13:38 I've been to festivals where they've had burger van type things serving healthy food such as pitta breads with houmous and salad, or tofu burgers with salad in wholemeal breadcakes etc. It's a real shame you don't see these on the high street - maybe there's not enough demand. savbaby 25-04-2005, 13:43 they have been doin research into sandwich shops which shows that most of them are not really a healthy alternative! if you think about how much mayonaise and butter that is used then they are quite fatty too! foo_fighter 25-04-2005, 13:46 Originally posted by Jamie Alternatives I can think of are: 1. Everywhere (the original UK fast food), Fish and Chips. missrabbit 25-04-2005, 13:49 Dont really think chips are healthy! Subway sandwich is a healthy fast food joint. foo_fighter 25-04-2005, 13:53 Originally posted by missrabbit Dont really think chips are healthy That would all depend, but anyway, I was answering the original thread question, "Wholesome FAST FOOD mmmm ...", "Why don't 'they' ... make fast food that's wholesome !?"... ...as to healthy, healthier, or whatever, it's all rather relative don't you think? savbaby 25-04-2005, 13:55 a lot of the fast food places are trying to improve thier menu's,, soon to be released from McDonalds are paninis which are pretty healthy xamanix 25-04-2005, 13:56 There are Jacket Potato shops - Proud Potato (Middlewood Road) Grand Potato (Abbeydale Road) Or that Potato Van thats at the bottom of The Moor Tuna, Beans Cottage Cheese... theflyingfish 25-04-2005, 14:02 falafel in pitta with houmous and salad, - like the Maoz fast food bar in Soho. ladylep86 25-04-2005, 14:49 Originally posted by JoePritchard I'm not convinced that such a thing is possible, though if there are any lawyers from the fast food companies reading this, the products of their companies are always nutritious and delicious. Joe I'd like to see that happen, not in my generation that is for sure GimmeSomePK 25-04-2005, 14:53 Originally posted by missrabbit Dont really think chips are healthy! Subway sandwich is a healthy fast food joint. Chips from a fish and chip shop are much better than fries from places like McDonalds, chunkier chips, less surface area so better potato to fat ratio. Not convinced with Subway being healthy, but i suppose there are healthier options if you remove the cheese and any mayo/dressing from some of the sandwiches. I wouldn't be surprised if something like a bacon and cheese panini has similar calorie, fat and salt content as a cheeseburger. -PK- theflyingfish 26-04-2005, 07:55 Originally posted by GimmeSomePK Chips from a fish and chip shop are much better than fries from places like McDonalds, chunkier chips, less surface area so better potato to fat ratio. She probably would lose weight if she ate all her meals in subway intead of mcd's. Rebecca 26-04-2005, 13:05 Even if Subway's not fantastically healthy I'm sure it's a lot better than McDonalds - I usually have the veggie one - they don't use too much cheese and you can have heaps of salad, you can have as little or a much dressing as you like, it's not all fried and coated in sugar and salt, and the best thing is that you get to watch them making it! xamanix 26-04-2005, 14:47 Jacket Potatos? does no one agree - they are so healthy? I used to work in the Proud Potato and all the fillings are freshly prepared every day and there are so many healthly fillings to choose from... Rebecca 26-04-2005, 16:37 What about... a piece of fruit - it's fast and it's food! nightrider 26-04-2005, 21:02 Originally posted by Jamie Why don't 'they' ... make fast food that's wholesome !? to be honest in Sheffield most fast food seems to be a lot less greasy than other places I have lived. So it is relatively healthy... |
