Has any one just watched the Truestories programme on more 4 called the day i will never forget? It was all about female circumcision. It was disgusting. I seriously can't believe people still practice this barbaric act! The young girls are pinned on the floor screaming and shouting by adults that claim to care about them and mutilated! Totally disgusting! :rant:

I agree. Female genital mutilation is totally barbaric, abhorrent and unecessary. It serves only to benefit men.

And the countries that practice it are supposed to be civilised..who are they kidding?

Some of the most vocal defenders of this barbarism are Western apologists who seem to think criticising this backward practice amounts to "Cultural Imperialism"

To be perfectly honest, and bearing in mind the family friendly ethos of SF, I can see NO POSSIBLE benefit to anyone. I've read details of what "sex" is like after the mutilation and it certainly wouldn't give me pleasure.
