if its any help, they usually advertise in the star Thurs/Fridays when its open :)

I'm sure it will be open around April, probably Easter onwards, but don't know a definate date !

it wont be opening anytime soon, cos the fields out there are like bogs!

Has anybody been to Thoresby Market of late? Does iteven exist any more?

We used to go quite regularly but haven't been for several years.

It used to be so big that you needed a full day there to see everything. I must admit though that many of the stalls were samey, once you had been down one aisle you'd been down them all. I seem to remember a nice atmosphere at Christmas though, what with all the fairy lights and trimmings etc as it was going dusk.

A good market to go to during the build up to Christmas is the Victorian market at Lincoln. It is held at the start of December over a 4 day period. Lots of period costumes and old fashioned fairground rides etc in the shadow of Lincoln Cathedral - ah lovely

Yes thoresby market still exists, its still bigger and some stalls are still the same.

Do you know - I have been trying to remember the name of that market for over 6 months *slaps forhead*

The last time we went to Thorsby Market it was rubbish, we wouldn't go again.

It was bad when we last went too.... We thought it would be all market stalls as it had been in the past, but it turned out to be a car boot sale.....we haven't been since.

Loads of shell suit and mobile phone stalls if my last trip was anything to go by.

Of course its still there to remove it would be a traversty. Yes it sells a load of crap but its so massive and you never know what will be round the next corner. Will it be a mobile phone cover store, a cheap knock off clothes stall or an illegal watch stall? Its so exciting and you can always pick up a bargain there. The food theres quite nice too specially the indian stall.

Don't know the road numbers but if you get to Worksop then take the Edwinstowe Road out then you will pass the signs for Thoresby market

thoresby market reopens on the 14th march 2004 i came on to this site and seen that somebody had put officially it opens this sunday so we decided to go, only now i realise that message was posted in 2003! ha great nowt like wasting some petrol!

i am trying to print directions fromm AA route planner,although i can drive there with my eyes shut its hard to explain to someone that comes from out of town,but the route planner doesn't reconise "thorsby"/"thorsbey" any idea's anyone?

You could try Cuckney or Clowne ? I think they are nearby

This is lovely little village near Grimsby.

You could put in Budby. It's only a couple of minutes and well signposted from there.

it's not difficult to describe if you take the A57 route, just navigate by number of roundabouts, dead easy.

M1 s to j31
A57 towards Worksop - stay on A57 till you get to roundabout signposted 'Edwinstowe'. Turn right

Follow this road - for miles till you pass 'skirmish paint ball'
at next left turn turn left (signposted market)
follow for 400 yards, entrance on right..

Cannot miss it.

I'd follow the A616 from Junc 30 of the M1. Down past Clowne, through Creswell. If I remember once you get so far down the A616 its signposted.

PS. Watch out in Creswell when you come to the crossroads that you straight over, the police like putting speed traps about 100m down on the left in a garages forcourt!

Yes, loads of fake clothes, unless Prada, Gucci, Armani and Louis Vuitton are clearing old stock through the market, which I doubt.

Right get your calender out and the last sunday be for xmas count 40 sundays back. You will then have the date when THORESBY MARKET re-opens. This year it was 20 march. Next year it is 26 MARCH. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I HAVE WORKED THERE 18 YEARS.:clap:

I went here several years ago and if it is the same one as I recall, I had to pay to park/go in, and I thought it was too much, so never went again. Is this still the same? How much to park or get in now?

When we went it was just a couple of quid for parking - I wouldn't mind going! Perhaps all the forummers going ought to let eachother know and we could meet up at the hot chocolate van! (that's not a hot, chocolate van -it's a van that sells hot chocolate - sorry)

What a joke, I went to Thorseby couple of months ago for the first time in years, there were at least half a dozen stalls selling fake nike trainers (yes all the air max 95's they sell on the moor as well for £25 are fakes), several selling fake DVD's and cd's (thats unless the latest DVD's are now retailing at £3 each), plus all the usual fake Levis, Armani, G star jeans etc. Oh and don't forget the 'auctions' where they sell all the faulty electrical crap which comes from those pallets of catalogue returns.

Did manage to get some cheap Mach 3 razors, but they were probably knocked off from a boots warehouse.

And no doubt you can buy a "real" Stone Island jumper for about £50 :rolleyes:

Never been to Thoresby market but guessing from reading prvious mail it is closed now. Can somebody tell me when it will be open 2007. I need a set of number plates and i am told that there is some stalls there that make them up. I believe one makes them up with a computer system. I believe that there is more than one stall that does this service.

just turn up EARLY , you will be allocated a pitch , they used to be about £40 but it depends on the size obviously , you shouldn't have a problem getting on , it's no where near as busy as it was .
