The death was announced on 21/7/08 of Harry Dowson who had been a stalwart in the city's education profession. Some may remember Harry as a deputy head of Earl Marshal School and I believe he was the city's NUT representative at one time? Harry passed away, suddenly, aged 86 and his cremation is next Monday 4 Aug at 3.30pm. Condolences to his family at their sad time.

sad news. Harry was my careers teacher at school and I knew him for many years after when he was leading the NUT in Sheffield. I'm sure there will be many who remember him fondly, I'd have thought there might have been more responses to this post.

I remember Harry for giving me 6 on each hand from the infamous "double diamond".

I remember Mr Dowson. I think we were supposed to be scared of him but actually what were the names of the others...ahh Mr Francis...he was lovely! Miss Driver (NOW SHE WAS SCARY!) and Miss Howden? Now thinking back the women were more scary....they were all some sort of deputies werent they?
