Hi

4 months after having my first baby I developed carpal tunnel syndrome and to my great surprise was diagnosed with having an underactive thyroid. Carpal tunnel was the only symptom I felt I had. Baby is now 1 yr old and I am thinking about trying for another baby. Has anyone got any advice for me in terms of getting the right care and attention from Gp or any advice in general when trying to conceive with underactive thyroid.

Many thanks.

Hi rosyapple,

I can't really advise you about this, I just wanted to say good luck and I hope it happens easily for you. Have a chat to your GP or practice nurse about any other things you may need to consider.

I was diagnosed with underactive thyroid last June, I conceived my daughter in August!

It can be done, just take the medication and keep up with blood tests.

When you do conceive you will be given extra care, so all will be fine.

Good luck x

Thanks both of you for your messages. Its good to hear that you got the extra care Olliekitten as I was wondering whether I would have to push for it. Still trying to get the right dosage for me at the moment.

Hi Rosy, As i was only diagnosed a month before I conceived so my dosage was not sorted at all when I was pregnant, so it is possible x
