Strix 28-07-2008, 02:22 AM We're not asking much :)
We're trying to work smarter instead of harder, so we're looking for people who can find us a regular space on a notice board to be updated maybe once a fortnight. If you can do up to half a dozen different locations that's brilliant, but if you can just do the one in your work canteen, that's great too! Local vets, pet shops, pubs, sandwich shops... and anywhere else you can think of too.
We need to make sure we cover Sheffield pretty well, so if you can post here when you've arranged a regular spot that would be great, then if you can forward your email address to Helenasq here, she'll be producing and sending out the email to be printed and displayed
We really need your help on this one so that RainRescue herself can free up the time she's been spending licking envelopes and do some more constructive rescue work with that time!
Thanks in advance :)
Lotti 28-07-2008, 09:55 AM Who do I contact Strix? Can think of two definites off the top of my head :)
helenasq 28-07-2008, 09:56 AM Well said strix! I've forwarded a few plans to RR, and we're working on getting them right so that people will see and take notice of them. If you can all pm your email addresses to me or just send me a message to helenasq@hotmail.co.uk
Also if people could just let me know when they contact me whether or not they have access to powerpoint, as this would be easiest for me. If not I can do it I Microsoft word.
Also, if there is anybody on here that knows how to shrink the size of photographs to try and make the file size smaller, it would be greatly appreciated! The photos are all around 625 KB, I need to shrink them down to about 30KB, anybody know how to do this? I'VE DONE IT!!!
Lotti 28-07-2008, 09:56 AM  Answers my question then!
Got to do it later... the spotties are up!
Strix 28-07-2008, 05:34 PM if you're photobucketing the pics, there's a facility there to reduce them, or paint will usually manage them okay
Perhaps a PDF file would be the best to distribute, as anybody can open one of those without expensive software and without knowing what they're doing (pretty much). I believe Sue at RR can convert if you don't have Adobe Acrobat yourself Helen
Lotti - where are your two locations? so we're not duplicating and know what's covered
Jess22 28-07-2008, 05:59 PM OOh, I'm having a think of places to add to the list.
Strix 28-07-2008, 06:23 PM and people you can ask to receive the email to print posters from too Jess
Lotti 28-07-2008, 08:22 PM I'm going to email Helen later - I can ask the guy at Paws Here in Crookes who is usually perfectly happy to do it and there's another 'location' down on Abbeydale Rd... ;)
helenasq 30-07-2008, 09:31 AM Posters should be ready to come out this evening, anybody else?
sezbetz 30-07-2008, 10:04 AM yes please - have PM'd you!

magsie 30-07-2008, 05:36 PM Include me Helen, you have my address and I will send to Sheffield Animal Friends who circulate all over the area. Powerpoint or whatever is good with me x
Rainrescue 31-07-2008, 12:34 AM Thank you everyone - we should be able to cover the whole of sheffield by the time we have finished and can update it as regularly as we can
What brilliant ideas
I should be able to post them at work - i'll pm you my email address.
helenasq 31-07-2008, 12:06 PM I am using my other email account to send out the rainrescue posters. Please still email me on helenasq@hotmail.co.uk if you would like to recieve the posters. In your email could you please put your email address and whereabouts you are thinking of putting the posters, just so that we know which areas we have covered
Everyone else that I have now added, please contact me on my new email that the poster is attached to. I now have about 12 people, just waiting for the email address of 1, and then the posters will be sent out from the new address once I have the OP's email address.
Thanks to everyone who has volunteered, between us we can make a difference
*Peaches* 31-07-2008, 12:14 PM Do you want some posting in Doncaster?
Jess22 31-07-2008, 12:18 PM Do you want some posting in Doncaster?
Ooh that reminds me, do you want any putting up in Barnsley?
helenasq 31-07-2008, 12:18 PM Do you want some posting in Doncaster?
Good question *Peaches*!
I suppose it's not too far away from sheffield, and if the people interested in looking for a dog have a car, then it's really not that far away.
We went to look at several rescue centres before getting our two rescues, if you want a dog that's going to be right for your family, you have to be prepared to look round to find a suitable dog.
So, I think the answer to this one is "yes please!".
Thaks for offering peaches. (the piggies are all squeaking at the moment as they are annoyed that they can't go outside as it's chucking it down!!)
*Peaches* 31-07-2008, 12:19 PM Aww poor piggies!
Re posters, do you want to post them to me, or wait til I come through again?
helenasq 31-07-2008, 12:20 PM Ooh that reminds me, do you want any putting up in Barnsley?
every little helps!!
helenasq 31-07-2008, 12:21 PM Aww poor piggies!
Re posters, do you want to post them to me, or wait til I come through again?
I can either email them to you *Peaches*, or print some off and send them to you in the post-I'm gonna have to check my ink level though!:hihi:
*Peaches* 31-07-2008, 12:22 PM I don't have a working printer, its on my to do list
helenasq 31-07-2008, 12:26 PM Ok *Peaches, I'll try and get something organsied. In the meantime feel free to email me on helenasq@hotmail.co.uk.
Could anybody else possibly print off a few spares to send to those without printers? I need to find the CD to get the laptop linked with the printer-don't ask me where it it!!!
*Peaches* 31-07-2008, 12:41 PM ok Helen will email now
helenasq 01-08-2008, 09:39 AM Ok, final posters went out last night, but we are still in need of more people to add to our mailing list. 15 kind people have volunteered so far, between us we can make a difference, no matter how small.
Can everyone please pass the word around, we need as many people as possible. After speaking to RainRescue we are ok to post posters around sheffield, chesterfield, rotherham, doncaster and other surrounding areas.
We are also in need of people to print off a few posters each time to send to people without (working) printers. If you can help, please get in touch.
Thanks to everyone who has volunteered, if there is anybody who hasn't received a copy of the poster, please let me know
Helen
