I have noticed that the top floors of the tower blocks just off the bottom of London road are distinctly different to all the other tower blocks of Sheffield, in that they look like penthouse appartments or offices, rather than the top of a lift shaft.
Does anyone have any in-sight to this?

Years ago I had a boyfriend (my dad called him the missing link!) one of his friends lived in one of the top floor flats.
They do have nice big veranndas and big windows. Now it was many years ago but I seem to recall an open plan kitchen living area and a bedroom and bathroom. I also seem to recall that they had big support beams running up to the roof in the livingroom.
Gosh that takes me back....the things you do when you are young... :)

I think these were flats for the caretaker to live in.

Back in the 60's I seem to recall that most blocks of flats in Sheffield had a caretaker.
