SpeedDemon 27-07-2008, 11:44 PM why is that then terminator? Does it make them ill if they're not spayed? Or is it like with cats n dogs, where spaying them reduces their chances of certain cancers n things like that? terminator 28-07-2008, 12:00 AM It reducers many things tumors cancers ect with out it id say chances are 90% a unspayed ferret will die or contract tumors ect at somtime in life or become enemic due to bone marrow problems if not used for breeding the injections are good but carry a risk as well and should only be used to bring a ferret out of season untill it can be spayed. The ferrets internals are like no other.A male thats been done comes in handy it still brings a female out of season. SpeedDemon 28-07-2008, 11:31 AM Thats interesting, i didnt know that. It's a very high percentage isn't it? I've never had a ferret but my friend had a cream male with red eyes when i was a kid. She called him charlie and he was sooooo cute. terminator 28-07-2008, 10:27 PM It is a high percentage but thats just me it maybe not so high there again could be higher theres always one person will say well i never had mine spayed and had no problems but is it worth the risk its not nice watching a ferret go into a coma or any other pet come to think of it ive had to bring this one out of a coma twice already in past two days as she,s too weak for a operation at the moment but i dont think the out come is going to be too good. About the spaying if the female is not done her body will keep releasing hormones into her system which will or can result in sadly death because there bodys cant cope with the hormone basically. There is 3 ways you can stop this 1st spaying. which is the easiest and best option stops her comin into season perm and healthier 2nd jill jab. This is an injection that vets give the jill to knock her out of season ( this is only supose to be offered once is it is not healthy for her). 3rd vaccinated hob. Havung a male that is not able to breed but can do the job of getting her out of season. or the last is breeding and letting her have kitts jediwarrior 01-08-2008, 04:32 PM sent u a pm pets at home. This sick one is sure a fighter just not strong enough for a opp thats if we put her through it depends on her qauility of life going to see how she gets on over next 7 days so back to honey and jam mix :hihi: and high vits. terminator 01-08-2008, 10:06 PM PS Please do not give your ferret honey or jam unless there is a reson for doing so it can cause a serious problem just thought i should mention that as ive posted above the one im taking care of is on this but there is a good reson for this. Moonbird 01-08-2008, 10:59 PM :hihi:Its a good job she has returned home yet again Bless her she's a little tough un isn't she? I hope that she carries on like this so that she can be spayed and have a good life :) terminator 01-08-2008, 11:19 PM Bless her she's a little tough un isn't she? I hope that she carries on like this so that she can be spayed and have a good life :) No need for this one to be spayed never has been even vets cant understand her they said this must be a mirracle one in a million ferret they said her body dosnt produce hormones as a normal ferret would hence she will come into season but then comes straight back out longest time was 7 days lol shes going on for 7 year old now disabled blind in one eye but she,s adapted her own little moves.Shes been running round garden today supprise supprise This was her today camping lol http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r180/terminator_020/?action=view¤t=01-08-08_1817.flv Her friend Rambo http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r180/terminator_020/?action=view¤t=04-07-08_1937.flv And Kato who grooms her to bits http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r180/terminator_020/katonmisty.jpg Moonbird 02-08-2008, 12:07 AM No need for this one to be spayed never has been even vets cant understand her they said this must be a mirracle one in a million ferret they said her body dosnt produce hormones as a normal ferret would hence she will come into season but then comes straight back out longest time was 7 days lol shes going on for 7 year old now disabled blind in one eye but she,s adapted her own little moves.Shes been running round garden today supprise supprise This was her today camping lol http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r180/terminator_020/?action=view¤t=01-08-08_1817.flv Her friend Rambo http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r180/terminator_020/?action=view¤t=04-07-08_1937.flv And Kato who grooms her to bits http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r180/terminator_020/katonmisty.jpg Awww she certainly looks lively enough :D now why did I think she needed a spay  anyway what op does she need then? Is Rambo a Michael Jackson fan? he does a brilliant moonwalk, did you teach him or is it just natural talent? :hihi: Kato is sooo cute I love polecat colouring...and now I'm getting well educated in all things ferret I find that I also like silver mit :D terminator 02-08-2008, 01:58 AM She has a tumor well thats guess work upto now somthig not normal in her belly so the outcome may not be good in the end thats the op if we think its causing the problem and would be worth the risk theres not a great deal can be done for insilinoma but can be managed although tumors can be a cause of it last one i had with this problem was diagnosed at 7 year old he died at nealy 11 1/2 years .As for Rambo dont think he,s a Jackson fan just do,s what he wants lol had to put steel locks on his hutch swine keeps breaking plastick locks or ripping wire off bit of a handfull he is.Kato,s my favourite colouring She,s gone totally sloppy this last year just wants hugging and licks ya to death. I would like to make a suggestion if your a ferret owner wiegh your pet every couple week wieght loss is a fair indication of a problem a simple blood test at a vet takes 2 mins result there and then for insilinoma male or female other sytems can be shaking head clawing the uper part of the mouth / foaming from the mouth loss of ballance symptoms can look like heat stroke may walk a few feet then be exhausted they may go into a fit or a coma dont panic talk to them stroke them give a diluted bit of honey or rub pure honey round there gums once they recover make sure they have some kibble or high vitimans its not the end a monthly injection can help them along although they will always be a bit more fragile.they can go on a few more years happily acording to records however mine carried on for another 4 1/2 happy years even then it was my decison he was no longer having a good qaulity of health. If the ferret looses skin colour round gums nose ect you need a vet promto well within the hour less if possible this will be a indication of internal blood loss as with any pet once that colour go,s its unwell maybe just run down but can be a sure signe help is required quickly. ferretfatcam 02-08-2008, 08:38 PM must agree a jill ferret must be brought out of season by either the jill jab a vascectomised hob or being steralised steve jediwarrior 03-08-2008, 03:55 PM whats news on your terminator is she better terminator 03-08-2008, 09:55 PM whats news on your terminator is she better Was fantastic yesterday not so good today although not as bad as before she,s been sleeping most of day all fits under control now just the odd wobble and head shake now and again. But as she,s already disabled slightly on her back legs its harder for her than most. PS forget that shes up and about again today lol You are viewing an archive. To view the actual thread click here: Sheffield Forum | |
