Don't know about rifles and such but my brother in law in sheffield does a bit of hunting, he gets a catalog from the States i know that , he's bought some nice scopes ect from it, seems it's much cheaper than he can get it in the UK even with the shipping cost an all.

There is Hardy's Gunsmiths on Ecclesall Rd or Arthur Turners Gunsmiths on Langsette Rd.

There used to be another supplier called Firing Line who I bought most of my things from. I know the chap who ran it closed his shop but is still dealing online. I will try find you his email address.

Cheers for that, its 19 years since I bought an air rifle....wonder what the prices are like these days......found a few online stores but they seem a tad expensive, unless I am thinking still in terms of 1986 prices!!!!!! (probably)

i think theres one at the bottom of rivelin valley rd as well,"browns" iirc,
these days £250 - £300 will get you a good air rifle,
dont get anything too cheap as the build quality can get dangerous,
you'l prob be best going for a springer, leave the expensive pcp stuff for later :D
dont get anything co2 as they'r rubbish, and ask about air pistol's while your shopping (i just got a new one),
also ask about some up to date saftey stuff, the law has changed a fair bit in the last few years,
shoot carefully and make shure pellets dont go out of the boundries of where you shoot,
remember theres a large shooting comunity out there who have it hard enough from the anti's,
so be wise, and shoot straight and true,
JJ..

air pistols.....have just been thinking of one instead of a rifle actually. Is the range as good as a rifle? Can you recommend a particular brand or model? I see there are many many of them on the internet, and the gas powered ones font appeal to me anyway, so it would have to be a good old fashioned spring mechanism but something with a good bit of power and range.

Cant say I have noticed the place at the end of Rivelin Valley Road......but then never looked for it so obviously missed it

Have you tried Killamarsh. There's a big air rifle shop (warehouse) there. It's on the main road by one of the industrial estates. Can't remember where. I saw it on the way to the country park :)

[MOD NOTE] We have a policy of not carrying adverts et al for weapons on Sheffield Forum so I'm going to close this now. If you want to find an appropriate shop I suggest the pretty fab www.yell.co.uk!
