OK so I cant find much about the Brushes site and last thread on the topic is from 2006!
Does anyone know anything about this site or have an allotment up there? I know they currently have vacancies but thats it!

Just thinking about getting a plot and need either S5 or aroung the hagg house / hill / rivelin areas due to work and home! Not sure how long the waiting list would be for the other sites though.

My mum's plot is at Brushes. In comparison to the site I'm on the plots seem quite small, but from what I can gather the available plots have been recently ploughed and new top soil added so, although the weeds have returned, there doesn't seem to be bindweed thickets or forests of brambles there yet. Definitely worth a look though, you can always 'trade-up' later if you really get the bug. Personally I'd go for the site nearest to home otherwise you might find you spend your days off doing the journey to work just to spend time on your lottie.

Thanks so much for your reply. Actually small is encouraging as I have three kids and number 4 on the way so didnt want to take on too much but my veg patch iis just too small at home and cant cope with any more tubs about the place!!!

Do you know if your mum suffers with vandalism up there or not? Also is there water on site or do you have to bring your own.

She's only just taken her plot on, it's her latest mad 'retirement project' so isn't really in a position to know about the vandalism, but from what I can gather it's no worse than at other sites. Yes, there is water, but for some plots you'd need a very long hose-pipe!

As far as I'm aware there's still a fair old waiting list for Norwood, but we're about to get our own web-site, so keep an eye out for that.
