Rainrescue 27-07-2008, 11:23 AM Ok - heads to the scratchin boards.
Jackie at C.A.T.S used to have a charity shop - which they had to get rid off, when they had their own ambulance stolen. Her dream is to have another shop as thats how she knows she can have regular income coming into the sanctuary - and it also involves volunteers into being involved. Often people are happy to volunteer to run or work in a shop - whereas they don't want to be involved in the hands' on work.
We are looking at taking on a Charity Shop in the Firth park area. Initial thoughts are that it could be rented between RAIN and CATS and that way we are helping lots of different animals that need help and are in crisis in the Sheffield area.
We are looking for a shop to rent with a reasonable weekly rental so if you could all put your feelers out how to find one, or put our names down for one if one comes up - that would be a start.
The areas to look at are Sicey Avenue, Bellhouse Road, Stubbin Lane or Hadfield House Lane. Any ideas
pinklady 27-07-2008, 11:27 AM there is shop in chapeltown thats owned by the post office, its just closed from being a florist and is advertised via signs in the window that its lease is free, its in a pretty good location, good size and with it being the PO, they may give reduced rents to charity shops too, might be worth a look
waddy 27-07-2008, 11:45 AM I will keep a nosy in the area as I live there.I will have a drive around see if any are empty. The shops on Hartleybrook that are empty are to open soon [my friend has one] but I am sure there must be one in the area.
Rainrescue 27-07-2008, 12:11 PM Where is Hartleybrook Waddy?
Pinklady - thanks for the suggestion - but it has to be round the Firthpark area - cos thats where the volunteers are that know C.A.T.S. and that would help. Its so hard to organise anything so far away like chapeltown - much as it sounds good.
waddy 27-07-2008, 12:20 PM Hartleybrook is Shiregreen .It is a parade of shops the other end of bellhouse shops.I think there is an empty shop on bellhouse road it used to be african food takeaway just up from the pet shop.
waddy 27-07-2008, 12:27 PM The empty shop on Hartleybrook is to be a indian takeaway.I will see if I can get some info on the one on bellhouse.I will drive down.
Moonbird 27-07-2008, 01:41 PM I think that this is a brilliant idea and I would love to help, I can't think of any empty shops though at all, I will keep a look out while I am on my travels and put feelers out too
waddy 09-08-2008, 10:45 AM Any luck with finding an empty shop?I can't find one in the area.

No but I am wondering if there might be one going to come empty on bellhouse but we will have to wait and see for that one.
I did notice there's a shop at firth park on Bellhouse but a bit up from the centre, there is a telephone number in the window, but it looks like it might need work doing and I am always on the bus when I pass, will try to look into it.

Oh that's a hell of a lot of money, I can't see them forking that out and still making some profit, the shop I noticed was further up the hill a few shops after the big clothes shop on the corner, I will check it out when I'm next down.
