Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone could give me any advice on my kitty. She's 15 weeks now, and been fully vaccinated. Today whilst groming her I felt a mobile hard lump (about the size of a small pea) on the back of her neck. It's sort of between her "shoulder blades". I've compared it with my other kitten of the same age, and it's definately not normal. She seems well, eating and playing as normal, but I'm a bit worried now!

Does anyone know what it may be? I will probably take her down to the vets next week to check it out, but wondered if anyone could shed some light on it before I go.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

xx

In all likelihood this is a little patch of inflammation under the skin where she had her injections. It's just like when we have a flu jab and we get a lump for a while where the jab was administered.

Unless it's growing, weeping or obviously causing her discomfort then just monitor it and hopefully within a few weeks it will start to calm down.

Thanks for your help medusa. I didn't realise the injections were in the neck (she had them done before I adopted her) so that seems the most likely explanation. I'll keep an eye on it though like you said. You've helped put my mind at ease!

Is she microchipped? That feels like a small grain of rice and it would be about there too.
