Ok,

This is NOT a joke. Here's the link:

Apparently, this little girl threw a tantrum to end all tantrums. I saw a clip on the evening news, and she was totally out of control.

I'm curious as to why they didn't call the mother to come get her? Although, I have to say, when I was a kid, I would rather have faced a firing squad at school, than have them call one of my parents, and make them leave work to come get me.

And once at home, I would most certainly have found myself on the wrong end of a wooden spoon!

The school is really in a lose/lose position. If they do nothing while she goes on a rampage, of course they're to blame if she injures herself or another child. If they try to stop her, they're accused of using too much force.

On the other hand, she is only 5 years old.

Do you think the school did the right thing in calling the police when they couldn't calm the child?

I feel they should have called her mother, and taken it from there.

they should have just called her mum or locked her in a naughty room or something

I think they should allow police in schools, co some kids are uncontrollable by parents or teachers.
HOWEVER, the children should obviously not be charged or taken to court etc.

Bet she'll think twice about throwing a paddy again!

Wonder if Super Nanny will adopt this kind of behaviour therapy?????

Serioiusly though it does seem a little harsh that she was cuffed/restrained in this way. That's America for you!

Apparently they did call her Mum to come and get her but the mum said she wouldn't be there for an hour.
So what do you do?
As a teacher, you're not allowed to touch kids now even if they are having a fit and hitting others in the classroom.
So, call the cops, restrain the child and stop her hurting herself and others till the Mum gets there.
I don't have a problem with that, the child was seriously out of control, throwing a violent tantrum.
I imagine the kid will think twice before having another tantrum.
