I have no fence between my garden and the one next door.
Thinking about using conifers or something similar to have a dividing hedge.

It would need to be 65 foot long and 5-6 feet high.

Can someone suggest what type of conifer/bush etc would be best for this ?

Thanks in advance.

I think it all depends whether you want a hedge for privacy or security, a conifer hedge will give you privacy but a mixed hedge will give you security (thorns).
Over the past winter I have planted a mixed "wildlife" hedge, its currently about a metre high and slow growing, already I have had hawthorn, gelder roses etc. in flower and the amount of birds and insects it's attracting is amazing.

Well, I planted a "slow growing" conifer hedge about 20 years ago (80 feet), its now about 8 foot high, I only cut it back and keep it in shape once a year, cut a years growth off about 3 foot, it looks nice once cut apart from the gaps at the bottom between the trunks ...... if I had the choice again I would settle for a mixed hedge, much more colour and variety.

Wow, really dont want to wait 20 years....its to stop the local gits going up next doors drive, across my garden and over my back fence - they use it as a shortcut.

Other idea is fenceposts, chicken wire and probably climbing plants/ivy etc.

Sorry Ghostrider you misunderstand ...... I cut 3 foot off it each year to keep it at 8 foot, from planting at 2 foot I would say it reached 8 foot within 5 years

You could stake some wire between posts to make a firm barrier for humans. Then plant along the same line to make a screen. The plants would soon engulf the wire so it wouldn't be visable.

I agree with pietro - a mixed hedge is great. You can use loads of plant to encourage animals and create a bit of interest and colour. If you took a walk around local strees and lanes you'd soon find some plants you like the look of that are growing native in your local area.
