View Full Version : An Experiment In Sun-Stroke.
Jabberwocky 26-07-2008, 12:10 Im bored.
Nothing to do, no one to torment, the cats out so I cant peel him and the OH has a knife so Im at a loss for what to do today.
Its a hot day and the sun is blazing down onto my garden so I thought I might try a little sun stroke, just to see what its like.
How long does it take to get sun stroke? Whats it feel like? Is it as much fun as it appears to be?
In the late 70s and up to the late 80s I worked outside and I got a hell of a lot of bad sunburns- bad enough to leave huge, crispy blisters on my back and shoulders, each year Id get these and I never learned to cover up because I LIKED it!
I never had the pleasure of sun stroke though...
So tell me, if eight hours in the blazing hot sun, labouring over a pneumatic drill doesnt do it for me, what will?
I need to go for a poo now. God knows why I felt the need to tell you that.
foxforcefive 26-07-2008, 12:19 Hope you enjoyed your poo. I'm not sure there are 8 hours left in the sun, but if you go the rest of the day with no hydration and work excessively you may manage to get sunstroke, you can then start a thread about how silly it is to get sunstroke.
Kthebean 26-07-2008, 12:34 I also hope you had a nice poo. Try drinking lots of beer, no something stronger, maybe vodka? and tea and coffee to dehydrate yourself, that should help.
Good luck! I await the results..
Introduce the poo to your experiment. Eat a load of food that will bung you up and then go and try for an al fresco poop, armed with a bumper puzzle book. All that straining and sweating while sitting still should induce sunstroke nicely. And you'll give the neighbours something to dine out on for years to come into the bargain. Job's a good 'un.
Jabberwocky 26-07-2008, 12:40 My kid has one of those Play doh fun factory things, you put a sort of.. plastic stencil over a hole thats in the factory and the play doh comes out in star shapes and stuff..
If I can get my poo to JUST the right consistency....
Think of it! (F) Art!
I could make money here, theres always some posh bugger willing to buy crap like that.

This handy chart I found on Wikipedia (and which I've been dying to find an excuse to post a link to on SF) should help you with gauging consistency:

Imagine being the artist asked to draw it! I wonder if they did it from 'life'?
I want a poster of it for in the toilet. And a pack of gold stars to mark them off each time I get one.

I was actually all panicky with excitement, like when I saw those German Daleks. :hihi:
slimsid2000 26-07-2008, 15:19 Do some charity work and help a good cause.
Eugh .. sun stroke is horrible ... I was so dehydrated that when I vomited it came out of my mouth like toothpaste being squeezed out of a tube .. very scary, thought I was going to choke ... it didn't come out the other end like that though .. sadly .. had to sit on the loo with a bowl in my lap to vomit into. NOT NICE I tell thee!
Jabbers hasn't been back and I'm having horrible visions of him having to go to Casualty with parts of a Play Doh Fun Factory lodged in his sunburnt buttocks. :hihi:
Jabberwocky 26-07-2008, 16:11 Im back!
That was brilliant!
I put lemon juice on my head and everything!
I sat in the garden listening to insane clown posse and watching the fish in the pond for hours and...
Still no sunstroke, but I have a lovely, lemon-fresh bonce!
ShinyPurple 26-07-2008, 16:27 So..... a fab afternoon in the garden reading my book & listening to Kings Of Leon. I have a shower to soap off all the sun block then, all squeaky clean, I log on to SF and find you're all chattin bout poo!!!!
I feel soiled......

"Sunstroke
Sunstroke is an acute, life-threatening condition in which the body's heat-regulating system fails, due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures and/or excessive production of heat. When the body is unable to return to a normal temperature, major organs can be damaged. Sunstroke can be preceded by heat exhaustion, when excess loss of fluids and salt results in marked weakness. Anyone exposed to high temperatures is at risk of heat exhaustion/sunstroke, but young children, elderly people, and people with certain chronic conditions or on certain medications may be more vulnerable. Symptoms of heat exhaustion include: weakness and fatigue, aching muscles, nausea, clammy skin, weak, rapid pulse, dizziness, heavy sweating, fainting and headache. Symptoms of sunstroke include: hot, dry skin, no sweating, flushed, pale or purple skin, hyperventilation, rapid bounding pulse, headache, muscle cramps, disorientation, agitation, lethargy, convulsions and an extremely high body temperature"
