Has anyone else experienced hair loss after having your baby ?
Mine has started falling out, (4 months after birth) I am not convinced that it is related to me having my daughter but I am not sure. I am becoming really self consious (sp?) about it and even thinking that I need to get a wig because it is so thin at the front that you can see my scalp.
Has anyone else had this ? I really have enough to worry about without this.
Don't worry too much about it as it happened to me with all 3 pregnancies but within a year it was back to normal!!
Are you breast feeding??

If I lose anymore I am not going out of the house !!
No I fed her for 2 months but then had to give up.
Mine went thin at the front for ages and I was really self concious about it but no one else even noticed, they were too busy ogling the twins.
It maximised at around 4-6 months then it started regrowing really well with those stupid short frizzy bits which are still shorter than the rest of my hair (mind you, that's not hard!)
I hope I don't offend, but I didn't notice it and I was sat next to you.

Thanks Zebra, I have been to the hairdressers today to have a hair cut (to try and hide it) and the woman who does my hair could tell and said that it was full hairs falling out from the base.
My friend also said that she noticed it a while ago but she didn't say anything because she did not want to upset me. My dad is very thin at the front of his hair line so I am thinking that it may just be inherited. I will not be pleased if that is the case though. (I am my dads double already, I don't need his hair line as well !)
I know some folk will tell you that it's extra hair you hang on to whilst pregnant (as it does happen) but I sympathise because you like I did will know it is not and your hair is thinner !!
Be assured it does come back but it took me each time til my latest child was about a year old!!

I lost a lot of hair when I was pregnant with my daughter and for about a year afterwards. Everytime I washed my hair or brushed it there seemed to be tons coming out but it did gradually get better. I wonder if its something that happens when having girls, I havent had it in this pregnancy at all

Don't worry about it hun, usually and I say usually, when you are preggers your hair stops falling out so your hair feels thicker than usual but when you have baby and your hormones start to go back to normal the excess hair starts to fall out.
It seems as though it's a lot because by then you have gotten used to those extra thick locks but it's not a lot really.
I have really really thick hair to start with so when I was pregnant it just got thicker and thicker so I was glad when it started to fall out afterwards, it's a bit embarrasing though when your out in public with a ton of hair stuck to the back of your jumper!

My husband saw some of my hair in the plug hole the other day so he pulled it out and it ended up being a clump the size of a tennis ball! I thought he had bought me a hamster!!!!!!
Thing is that was from just one hairwash!
My baby also pulls it out which doesn't help.

Just thought I would update you as I went to see my doctor this morning.
He said that it is probably hormones causing the thinning of my hair, it may come back or it may not but try not to worry as this will make it worse (??). I have been referred to dermatology to see if they can do anything but he doubts it and it might just be 'my time' !!
I ask you, how is this advice supposed to make me worry less ??
Anyone know any good wig shops ?
After having my son a lot of my hair used to fall out every time I washed it and brushed it. I spoke to my hair dresser and she told me that she has seen people with no hair loss after pregnancy to those where they really thinned after losing a lot of hair. She did say though in all their cases the hair had gone back to normal after a while.
