what's with the helicopter(s) all over the city at the moment?
Is there something going on?

ones been circuling my house in shiregreen for the past half hour! i back onto wolley woods n i saw a police dog van going into the park??

wonder if it nething to with ur sightings??:confused:

Well I've just been out to lunch and the helicopter was hovering over Waitrose. About 10 minutes ago a large convey of police motorbikes and ARV's came down Ecclesall Road (from Hunters Bar) and turned right towards St. Marys Gate. There was a white minibus in the middle of the convey but it didn't seem to contain anyone other than the driver

Perhaps it's a dry run for when the Home Office and Justice Minister's G8 summit hits town in June.

Was outside just before 2pm and saw the copper chopper just hovering about our heads, in city center. . didn't see what it was watchin though, but definatley watchin summat. .

Saw the convoy coming off the parkway at Manor Park and were hailed to stop by a motorcylce chappie - we were not amused as we had bags o' fish and chips which were getting cold while we had to wait for them to pass. They were still very, very tasty.

Oh. . Oh. . . Someone who knows summat. . did you see what/who was in the convoy and what did the convoy consist of. ????

Lots of bikes, liveried up patrol vehicles, transit and an unmarked vehicle, we were concentrating more on getting our lunch than anything else but it was a bit of a suprise to be confronted by that lot on the way back from the chippy. Pretty much exactly what Knoxville saw I suspect.

Probably be some royalty or something crap

Yup they're buzzing around above Sheff Hallam at the moment. maybe they're just bored. If I was bored and happened to have access to a helicopter, I'd be flying around in it loads.

Just saw the convoy drive past Ponds Forge. I reckon it is probably a training excercise or something.

Came past me about 2:30 outside the Millenium Galleries. There was a police bike ahead of the main convoy which stopped pedestrians crossing at the crossings etc.

The convoy was coming in to town on Psalter Lane as I was going the other way at about 1:15.

Certainly looked like a training run.

There were two trials on at Court today, sometimes they have the helicopters out for that.

its been hovering over the centre for 3 days now :O

All the old folk at the Altzheimer's Clinic were out throwing bread to them. Awww bless! :hihi:

Latest information is that they've been searching for two men who had been seen smoking near a school.

I've seen a plain white helicopter (the loud type!) the last few days flying over diffrent parts of the city.There was also something on Hallam FM about a police convoy coming up the north bound hard shoulder of the M1 heading towards Sheffield.

Scary thought. With rumours of Grant Mitchell returning to Albert Square (despite being dead), maybe a certain doctor from Hyde, Manchester, who's been lying on a slab at the Medico Legal Centre on Upperthorpe has had a similar idea?

Yes, maybe the police have seen Doctor Death running through the streets of Sheffield, offering medical advice?

Wasn't me - I had a day off on Friday, and one of our helicopters was in Oxford all day!

Earlier today, (morning/ lunchtime ish)
the helicopter was dealing with the blow-down of the grange tower block, on Norfolk Park

don't know anything about the convoy this afternoon, though.
