View Full Version : Which band have you seen play live the most?
EdnaKrabappe 24-07-2008, 11:42 Which band have you seen play live the most?
For me it's either Stereophonics or it was The Beautiful South - both in double figures - lost count.... every time was worth the pennies.
Best Phonics gig was Donnington in 2001 - will be very difficult to top that!
Best TBS gig was Quench tour in 1998 as I went backstage afterwards although the Hull homecoming gig in 2006 was also superbi.:D
Kthebean 24-07-2008, 11:43 For me I think the Levellers. I have seen about 5 gigs and at festivals 3/4 times. It just never gets old and always makes me dance like a maniac :)
Does Kylie count as a band?
And again - it's Bluetones.
I'm seriously considering therapy.....
Erm, it's one of; Therapy?, Terrorvision or Placebo.

Did you go to see them in Doncaster on Saturday? If we'd not been camping I'd have been there! (Nice to see you coming camping BTW!)
steelhead31 24-07-2008, 12:47 Id say Little Angels, Bon Jovi or The Foo's
Kthebean 24-07-2008, 13:06 Did you go to see them in Doncaster on Saturday? If we'd not been camping I'd have been there! (Nice to see you coming camping BTW!)
No I'd have loved to but I was at Glade Festival in the glorious sunshine :)
I must have seen Blind Mole Rat over 100 times
Buddy Curtess and the Grasshoppers - Gone and almost forgotten.
Classic Rock 24-07-2008, 15:37 Little Angels, Thunder or more than likely one of the local bands that played in one of the venues I've been promoting over the years.
Reel Big Fish - lost count how many times. Fantastic live
Vance Arnold and the Avengers alias Joe Cocker
Bloomdido 24-07-2008, 16:40 The Infadels
Cardiacs and Killing Joke
drinkingman 24-07-2008, 16:58 Ian Hunter (over a dozen)
Bob Dylan (about half a dozen)
Sensational Alex Harvey Band (five)
Loads of bands less than five. As you may guess I'm a boring old fart!
Definitely the Foos for me.
koenigsinger 24-07-2008, 17:23 The band I saw play live the most ( about 40 times) were a hardly known but hardy bunch of brummie rockers called Dawn After Dark. I followed them silly sods up and down the country and had many happy ( and drunken) nights in various bus shelters, service areas and hedgerows!
Suffragette1 24-07-2008, 17:27 Not a band (although I did see him live when he formed Tin Machine) but David Bowie is the artist I've seen the most times live.:love::love:
StarSparkle 24-07-2008, 18:27 The Manics - now there's a surprise for Forum regulars! :P :)

Bruce_Shark 24-07-2008, 18:41 Hmmm, could be any of:
Hawkwind,
Iron Maiden,
Magnum,
INXS,
Peter Gabriel, or
Clannad...
...I have varied tastes.
:D

suppose, if you saw the majority of the bands set
rolling stones 12 times
madonna 6 times
wacko dajacko 13 times
more to be added later:)
Erm...I think it's Muse actually. (Leeds Festival 2006, Sheffield 2006 and Wembley 2007)
Don't generally like to go and see a band again and again though- unless they have just released a new album or something special (like Muse at Wembley!!!).
They're headlining V-festival this year and I think I might go see someone else instead.
swordfish1 24-07-2008, 20:03 Placebo, Mansun, 65 Days of Static, Hell is for Heroes, The Smiths, Depeche Mode in that order.
This is on their own tours. God knows if you count festivals. It'd be too hard for me to work out (especially as I was too ****ed to remember half of them).
Remember going to the Red Wedge gigs a long time ago, back during the miners strike, and couldn't avoid seeing Billy Bragg, the 3 Johns, Elvis Costello etc everytime. Must have seen them dozens of times but always had a lovely time.
EdnaKrabappe 24-07-2008, 23:18 The Infadels
Good choice of band as excellent live - seen them twice myself. :thumbsup:Would definitely go see again.
...Elvis Costello...
He and various incarnations of The Attractions/Confederates/Imposters are mine. I think I've seen them six or seven times, most memorably at the Glasgow Concert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall when he was going through his unamplified phase. I've consistently managed to miss Billy Bragg though.
happyhippy 24-07-2008, 23:25 Established bands? Probably Whitesnake followed by Thunder, and Wishbone Ash. In all truth, I'm not sure.
Locally, I've seen Treebeard, Silver Wheel and Dead By Friday more times than I've, er, stayed sober ..... probably.
NEKRO138 25-07-2008, 08:31 Not sure exactly but I've seen Turbonegro, Metallica, NOFX, Bloodhound Gang, 65daysofstatic and Marilyn Manson loads of times.
Bloomdido 25-07-2008, 22:15 Not a band (although I did see him live when he formed Tin Machine) but David Bowie is the artist I've seen the most times live.:love::love:
I never got 'Bowie'. Really can't understand what there is to him. Please explain the attraction.
mrsteabag 26-07-2008, 03:26 Westlife x 3
Boyzone x 3
:D
Kthebean 26-07-2008, 11:05 Prince .. 23 times.
Wow! That is devotioN!
EdnaKrabappe 26-07-2008, 11:08 Prince .. 23 times.
Like KTBean says, that is impressive. Where at and was it a number of times on one tour? Did you do the 02 shows last year?
Unsure...theres a few at about 5 times i think...Therapy, Terrorvision, Guns N Roses, Whitesnake, Thunder, Def Leppard....(yes i love those big choruses!)
Seen local bands more times though...
Like KTBean says, that is impressive. Where at and was it a number of times on one tour? Did you do the 02 shows last year?
it'd have to be a pretty impressive bank balance to afford to see him 23 times lol
Gutterflower 26-07-2008, 19:18 Bon Jovi... 70 times.
Rocklegend 26-07-2008, 20:25 Asia...(and again next year).
Ivor&Mel 26-07-2008, 20:56 The Frank White Band... top man
JFKvsNixon 26-07-2008, 21:08 Worryingly it's Manson for me, I've watched them twice as a headliner; but I think I have also seen them supporting a few bands.
I've seen Meatloaf 5 times live (6 if you count the impersonator I saw at the City Hall in November 05), Cliff Richard 3 times, Russell Watson twice, And Kenny Rogers and some other Country singer my Dad likes (whose name escapes me at the moment).
The Manic Street Preachers - in fact, they're the only band I've seen more than once!
maniclee 26-07-2008, 22:44 The Manic Street Preachers - in fact, they're the only band I've seen more than once!
I'd love to say the Manics are the band I've seen the most, but I've only managed a mere 7 times compared to 15 Big Country gigs.
Blue Man Group - 3 times in Vegas :)
al_partridge 27-07-2008, 01:12 Probably either Metallica or Maiden. Seen them at Sheffield several times and at various festivals around the country
Himupnorth 27-07-2008, 18:33 Wishbone Ash. Lost count, but well over twenty times since 1976.
Bon Jovi... 70 times.
Me too, about 30 times!
Like KTBean says, that is impressive. Where at and was it a number of times on one tour? Did you do the 02 shows last year?
Sorry .. just seen this reply ... My husband can top that, I'm not that loopy over Prince .. this is over all his tours - and yes, we did the 02 shows last year (just twice for me - six times for my OH and he would probably have gone to them all had we lived nearer)
fabulous_girl 12-08-2008, 13:11 posted in wrong place
splodgeyAl 12-08-2008, 14:57 probably one of chumbawamba, we've got a fuzzbox and we're gonna use it and a combination of the various on-u bands - they only really had the reggae band and the noisy lot, i think it just depended who turned up first as to what they were called on any particular night / album
It's got to be Hawkwind....with and without the lovely Stacia.
Please don't ask for times, dates and places.....I was a hippy chick back then in the 1970's and was oft too stoned to remember where I was :hihi:
