I'm wanting to set restrictions on certain boards on my SMF forum, but I haven't got a clue where to start! I want the boards to be hidden until the poster hits so many posts, any ideas?

View Full Version : Help with setting permissions on SMF *Peaches* 24-07-2008, 10:58 I'm wanting to set restrictions on certain boards on my SMF forum, but I haven't got a clue where to start! I want the boards to be hidden until the poster hits so many posts, any ideas? Carl_Malibu 25-07-2008, 09:49 Well what forum software is it? on PHPBB the easiest thing would be to set a group up that has that required minimum posts, so anyone who hits that number becomes a member of that group automatically then go to forum permissions and give that group permission to view/post etc and everyone else no permissions jobs a good'un sccsux 25-07-2008, 10:09 Well what forum software is it? The answer is in the original post: I'm wanting to set restrictions on certain boards on my SMF forum I take it you've never used one of the best forum scripts out there? *Peaches* 25-07-2008, 10:11 I only use what my fella put up for me lol, I'm a bit simple when it comes to this sort of stuff :hihi: Carl_Malibu 25-07-2008, 10:13 ohhhh my apologies I assumed that was the name of the forum rather than the forum software, having never heard of it! Berberis 25-07-2008, 10:17 I used to be the admin of a SMF board. I gave it up as I stopped playing the game the board was associated with. Its in the admin section, on the right there is a link to 'Permissions', there you can select the board you want to change the permissions there. Have a read of http://docs.simplemachines.org/ and follow their guides. It’s pretty easy. |
