We seem to end up having the same set of meals for weeks and weeks and I hate it. This week I didn't write a shopping list, didn't ask them what they wanted just had a look what was there and still ended up with the same stuff . Problem is usually that if I make something new they complain they don't like it. We all like different types of meals. My daughter and son like pasta meals. I love stews, casseroles and pies and the oh prefers none of them!

Next week they are in for a shock because i'm digging the recipe books out and they are having something new every day of the week. I'll find them something they like whether they like it or not!

We try to vary it but of course laziness sets in and its easy to revert back to old habits

we have a lot of the same stuff depending on how tired im feeling. When my OHs cooking his speciality is frozen pizza. :D Although he did go to the efforts of making me mash potatoes, veg and pork chops because everytime i make tea baby waxy decides she wants feeding. Stick a piece of paper on the fridge and right down a basic list of what you have each night. It will show you what you eat often but also your favorites that you forget.
meals in our house are.

meat and potatoe pie
spag bol
shepards pie (but they get the face on when they realise there is no pastry to play with after).
stew
cous cous and veg with either ham or tuna
pasta bake
german dumplings with stew
lentil soup
german pea soup
veg soup
roast dinner
omelettes
one pot chicken (chicken, veg, potatoes and gravy cooked together in the oven.

Whenever I cook (which is fairly regularly), I usually just bung whatever veg I can find into a pan, fry it and add tomatoes. Most of the time I have it with pasta too, but I just bung the pasta in with it instead of cooking it first because I'm too lazy!

You have got me thinking ow boring my meals are too!

Generally in a week I only eat tradional potatoes, meat and veg once if that. Most weeks it's some sort of curry or stir fry 2 or 3 times then a mix of spag bol, chilli, pasta with bacon and chilli sauce, homemade pizza or roasted peppers with goats cheese.

Though your list has given me sometime to try I forget about stews and pies and with the nights drawing in it will soon be time to start back on them. :)

I went through a phase of doing inventive and different meals almost every night. I found a series of about 30 cookbooks and went through marking the pages of all the ones I fancied. For a while it worked but I seem to have fallen back to my old ways now of,pasta and pesto, salmon and veg or couscous, aubergine and chickpea tagines, various curries, spag bol, lasagne, veg or prawn stir fry and things that take my fancy when browsing around Waitrose.

I still have all those old cookbooks so maybe I should make the effort to go back try more new things again.

Dinner at Masion du Choc is never boring!

We think of things in advance and then make a shopping list for when we do our shopping, this way we have everything.

Best thing for you guys to do would be to doa quick google, and look on a site like 'good food uk, uktv, and bbc food' and click on the main ingredient you want to use, like chicken or lamb etc...print 5-7 of the yummiest looking recipes and set about being creative in the kitchen: music on, glass of wine, good conversation and make it into an evening.

We have a great time cooking for each other and enjoy the eve while we watch our pots and everything is relaxed and then y.u.m!!

Mr BC tends to say 'How about this for dinner sunday, with this and this'... so he's very imaginative but does use a good quality book a lot of the time. We have a lot of rich meals like lamb, beef and game with sauces and allsorts of wonderful delights. We also make a fair bit of non traditional foods and like to be creative with things we already have in.

Mmmm downside is I just have to eat nothing but salads for lunch as I lurve my food but can't eat lunch and rich food for dinner as I'd be heeeowge!

Are your German dumplings 'nockerlgriess' because I've got a packet mix of nockerlgriess to have with homemade goulash for tea tomorrow night.
