After getting scores of 76 and 67 not out, it seems obvious that Stuart Broad is being wasted at number 8 in the batting lineup, with only tailenders beneath him and all too often for company at the other end. If he can get scores like that, isn't it time to move him up the order - to 7 or even 6 in the batting lineup, as he is outscoring all our batsmen barring Bell and Pietersen. Who knows - maybe at least one of those scores might have been turned into a century had he come in earlier with a recognised batsman at the other end, and useful batsmen to come. Even Geoff Boycott said some of Broad's shots reminded him a bit of Sobers - and praise hardly comes any higher than that.

On current form he should be batting ahead of Michael Vaughan

I think long run he's a bowling allrounder to replace Flintoff, bat at 8 now with Freddie at 7 if we get a keeper who can bat. If not plug him in at 6 leaving Fred to get quick runs at 7 and a keeper to stand at the other end before the tail at 8.

He's still very new to the international game so bowlers havent had that much tape of him to study but come this time next year they will and the aussies will have plans for him. I wont be expecting such scores then anyway and hope they dont fire him too far up the order before he's ready.

I absolutely agree with that

He has the potential to become a true all rounder, and played a magnificent innings in defeat, but I do have a serious caveat. South Africa were stubbing out a stubborn cigarette in the last Test, and at the highest level, he's not been expected to bat.

I do think he could take a place in the top order soon, even as high as 4 if he really concentrates on his batting, but slowly, slowly, catchee monkey for now ......

We won't lose anything by putting him in at No 6 in the next couple of Tests. This will bring his batting on, and we might actually gain, with his batting developing before we face the Aussies. And if Boycott is right and there is a bit of Sobers lurking within him, then lets bring it out, and wasn't Sobers himself only 21 years old when he scored his unbeaten 365? Why should Ambrose bat at No 6 instead of Broad? And look at Vaughan's paltry return of runs so far, indeed over the last two years.

On current form, it seems Panesar should be batting ahead of Vaughan as well.

I'm waiting for the "New Ian Botham" garbage that will no doubt destroy a young and promising career.

Move him up a place or two; the last thing he needs is pressure. Let the guy develop.

And someone have a quiet word with our captain about taking a couple of weeks off in Cleethorpes during the next couple of test matches.

Leave him where he is, hes obviously comfortable there at the moment. Imagine if we did have a top order that was getting runs. As a bowling side you wouldnt want to see him coming down the steps at 6 down?
