My mother's maiden name was Elsie Rodgers. Her father's name was Jim. She also had two brothers, Jim and Arnold. Her Dad fought in the Boer War and part of the 1st World War until they found out he was overage and discharged him. Her brother Arnold was another old warrior. He served in the Royal Navy in both wars. We lived in Heeley and our immediate neighbours were called Waterhouse, Albert and Connie I think. They had two children, Brenda and Barry. Barry was killed by a car on Shoreham Street whilst riding his bike. The name Bunting also sounds familiar. Someone with that name lived on Tillitson or Well Road I think.

it's amazing that all these names seem to fit together!!!
i know that through searching that we have found some rodgers that lived at heeley one of which was joseph...
we are looking for a Joseph him being Norah's father
but the Joseph we are looking for is from 156 Portobello st on 1901 census
if you check 1881 census for a joseph rodgers there is 1 that lives at 7 Richmonds buildings, Prospect rd Heeley!!!!!
This maybe one connected to u how-ever not to us
Thanks for getting in touch will let you know if find a connection

you mention a Bunting poss living on Well rd!!
I believe that George & Hannah Lee ran the Shakespeare pub on Well rd and brought up there grandson Harold Bunting at the pub
The Lee's and Waterhouse's that are in our tree are from Rotherham originally..

Using the LDS website's IGI records i've traced my Bunting's back to 1750's living at Matlock still trying to get further back as i believe from the Bunting Society website that there's an Ancestral home named Buntingfield that consists of 112 acre's
I did some look-ups on the ENG-Sheffield mailing list (at Rootsweb) a few years ago which involved Buntings. I wondered if they are related to yours?
I believe that they or some closely related families had Matlock connections. This is the family in 1891:
1891 census
ref: piece 3805 e.d. 27 folio 118B
5 Tapton Bank
(Ecclesall Bierlow; Ecclesiastical District: St John [Ranmoor, I think])
Isaac BUNTING Head Widr 39 Under Gardener (Domestic Serv) DBY Belper
Eliza BUNTING Sister Unm 39 DBY Crich
Elizabeth BUNTING Dau 12 [13?,15? unclear] Scholar Sheffield
William H BUNTING Son 10 Scholar Sheffield
Robert F[?] BUNTING Son 7 Scholar Sheffield
Walter BUNTING Son 3 Sheffield
I also have the burial details for most of these people at Norton Cemetery, Derbyshire lane.
