alchresearch 21-07-2008, 20:30 The city from Meersbrook Park would be a good one.
Yeah that'd be a good idea... opposite side of the city to the other photos
Cheers!

ImpInaBox 22-07-2008, 10:22 Love that 'industrial sunset' pic. Well spotted.
Suggestions: well - technically - night shots are often better if there's still a little bit of light in the sky - you get that great deep blue colour.
How about some shots of places your friend used to go to... Winter Gardens, Botanical Gardens, more town center, football grounds, countryside around Sheffield? (The city is known as 'the mucky picture in the guilded frame'.)
Local landmarks like the Wicker Arches, Cholera Monument, Parkhill flats? And what about some traffic jams? Sheffield is becoming famous for those! :hihi:
Jabberwocky 22-07-2008, 10:24 Beautiful, every one of them, utterly flawless.
I cant suggest where else to take pics but I just had to comment on those pics.

I'm dead lucky as that is a pretty 'normal' cold winters morning sunrise.
Cheers

Jabberwocky, thank you for your kind comments
cheers

Was thinking maybe a wander round town one evening around sunset to get some more... if any body would be interested in joining me? Would have to be a bit later in the summer when sunset isn't quite as late.
Cheers

That could be good. We did a 'photo meet' in town after dark in January - the results are probably in a thread off one of the stickies at the top of the photo section (and mine are in my signature). And there's a competition coming up on 'Night in the City' later in the year.

I'd be up for that! :)
Great, I'll post in a few weeks about a meet and we'll go for a wander...
train station... peace gardens... town and city hall... cathedral... etc etc
cheers

mickyhix 01-08-2008, 10:30 may i come and play? sounds like a great idea :)
How about a picture of the stainless steel waterfall at night looking from inside the front hall of the Midland station.
It makes a great picture with all the coloured lights reflecting in the water and it is a welcome sight to many travellers to Sheffield as well as being one of the last views people see when leaving Sheffield.
I've taken some from the field at Skye Edge recently. An absolute stunner, almost 360 view of the city :)

I've taken loads here too. When it 'steams' at night it's brilliant
rubydazzler 02-08-2008, 17:16 What fabbie pix! The one of the Town Hall and the Peace Gardens is stunning, dunt it luke posh
katevincent 03-08-2008, 17:13 Great pics - good job!
Lovely photos, wow! How about the tram? Maybe at night? And Meadowhell :hihi:
Hi Guys,
Again thanks for the comments and ideas for new places to shoot.
It's still a bit light in the evenings for the night shoot, but think with all the interest we should deffinatly organise a wander round town one or two evenings in mid/late august - so as to give everyone who wants to come a chance.
Train Station - Hallam Uni (looking back towards station blue lights on walk way and monument on hill) - Lyceum - Peace gardens (and surrounding bits) - City hall - Cathedral - tram bridge (park square) - Ponds forge - Train station
Could be a nice evening walk anyone got any other stops along the way?
Also anyone know how long the town hall is due to have the scaffolding up... it spoils pictures lol (unless they have taken it down while i've been away.
If this is successful then maybe another meet for foorball clubs, wicker, meadowhall etc
Cheers
Rob
Just had another thought...
a day shoot/sunset shoot from Norfolk Park area, Meersbrook Park, Skye Edge to get the panoramic images of the city?
More of the cooling towers before they go, one of the main landmarks of sheffield, also the new car park buildings going up now in the city centre some interesting textures there, peace gardens are always a favourite as the city hall is. What about the station especially christmas time. The moor regeneration, weston park, more of the industrial sheffield, the cathedral just to mention a few.
But you have captured quite a few landmarks already.

Not quite inside the station but from just outside...

Really liking those Paul....
electrolyte 12-08-2008, 21:59 Some really superb photos that you've taken for your friend Rob.
The city from Meersbrook Park would be a good one.
I agree with this one. You get a great view over the whole city from the top of Meersbrook Park. I took this one last year from there:

Thats beautiful Simon...
My better half lives 2 minutes from there, she'll love seeing it.
