Have rented from them in the past (in the city centre) and found them very good, always got thing done when asked and nicer properties than the council seem to offer. Can tend to be a tiny bit more expensive but i'd say it's worth it due to the service!

Thanks Melly

Do they just have housing in the city centre or around Sheffield??

I rented a flat from Northern Counties about 6 years ago (in Doncaster though) and they were fine. The only thing I thought they could've improved on was their communication - when I eventually left, I wrote and gave notice that I was leaving. They never replied advising me what to do with the keys etc, so I just had to go to their office and post the keys through the letterbox! But all in all, great.

Here's a link to NCHA website which gives some details of areas of Sheffield they have houses and house types.

Hope it's useful

We are renting with Northern Counties at the minute and I gotta say the service that we have had with them has been very ****e at most, this is regarding the sheffield office by the way.

The previous occupant of our new house died in January last year and we took over the house in November last year after months of farting about to get the house.

We told Northern Counties everything that was happening from start to finish and the lady we spoke to was ignorant beyond belief- not naming any names- PM me for them if you wish..

We are 3 months behind in our rent now apparently because NC could not be bothered to set the direct debits up on time in November and also they are trying to force us to pay the previous occupants outstanding bill of £1000 which we have told them politely to **** off as this was nothing to do with us, we have also threatened them with the solicitors as well so we are awaiting their next move.

They do things very half arsed at the minute and we are now labelled 'the problem house' when the certain lady answers the phone to our call- when she can be arsed to answer that is!

Anyone else had these problems in sheffield?

Yes, I've had similar problems dealing with my late mother's home. I sent them notice last March when she moved into a nursing home but they said they had not received it, so I had to re-submit and lose a couple of weeks. They also owed her a lot of overpaid rent but the person dealing with it was so incompetent I had to get the Manchester office to sort it and even they had a struggle. My mother died in December and only last week I received a letter addressed to her saying she was in arrears.
Try dealing with the Manchester office, they were much more helpful.

Iam hopefully moving into a NCHA flat soon, are these problems with the Sheffield office still there?

Also what is there relationship like with the residents ?

Do they openly work with residents association to improve there estates ?

What are there repairs setup like ?

:D

I have to say I registered with these ages ago and I still have not had a single letter or anything from them. They issue you points and stuff to see about priority or whatever and I got about 80 if that. It was discusting and all because I was not homeless etc.

I am currrently with SYHA and I have to say, my house is lovely when you ring them they are always lovely to speak to and polite and so far had no problems with them. (touches wood) lol

I rented from Northern counties for 3 and half years, moved out a year and half ago. I have to say I would higlhy reccommend them. My partner and I had a flat on Oxspring Bank, S5. It was great, there was even a police station on site and a laundarette. We applied for the flat and were only waiting 4 weeks before being offered one. The flat it's self wasn't that big but was perfect for just 2 people. Had we not decided to have a family we wouldn't have moved. The gardens around the flats are kept lovely and you get your windows cleaned. The lady who runs the site is very helpful. I don't have any complaints.
