I need some turf for my garden, does anyone know if there is anywhere local to buy it? I don't want to end up spending a fourtune and all the internet suppliers seem very expensive.

Can't remember where we got ours from - it was a couple of years ago - but we just looked in the yellow pages and phoned a few places for quotes Unisol 21-04-2005, 12:47 I can get you some (very good quality) PM me. RoyalRegular 21-04-2005, 15:14 I got some from Shepherds at Ecclesfield......good stuff and free delivery. phone 246 4980. fnkysknky 21-04-2005, 19:47 A1 Turf Supplies at Attercliffe. foxy027 21-04-2005, 20:44 Sykes lawn turf,Stripe Rd,Tickhill......but all depends on where 'local' is.. B&Q at Darnall had some nice green turf tonight Captain_Scarlet 21-04-2005, 21:26 Why don't you just put seeds   Strix 22-04-2005, 01:42 Yeah, seeds. I've tried both, and seeds are actually much less hassle. In the time it takes for your turf to 'take' your seedlings will be well on the way. You need to keep watering your turf, and you can't walk on it anyway, but you get a better result with seed. You can choose what type suits you best too ;) nearenuff 22-04-2005, 05:00 as in all things its down to prep having spent some years not long ago delivering and laying turf for two local turf companies turf is turf most buy it from one supplier out near doncaster.i have orderd 25 mtrs for delivery today at a cost of £37.50 from a1 turf they are about the best good turf, good price and reliable on ther delivery times. spend more time on the prep and give it plenty of water and keep off it for a few weeks should end up with a good lawn.if you have a dog dont let it use it for a toilet if it does wash down with plenty of water asap if not you will end up with big round dead areas of brown grass. good luck alchresearch 22-04-2005, 12:13 If you're local to Woodhouse, try the farm at the bottom of Junction Road. Cliff is the guy who runs it and I'm certain he still does turf. His lorry is usually parked on the bend at the bottom of Tilford Road in the evenings if you're passing and want to get his details. andreya67 27-02-2011, 07:49 I need some turf for my garden, and bought some from a company in Sheffield last year .
