I am in desparate need of a new haircut - Can anyone recommend a good place to go - not too expensive. Somewhere I would feel comfortable and at ease with the person cutting me hair?

You wanna watch out with that funky hairdresser lot... You might end up with a mullet!

Hairband on ecclesall road is good and if you are a student i believe you get a discount, or you could book for one of there training nights where the cut is REALLY cheap and it is cut by trainees overseen by professionals.

If you're into wacky colours and dreads/weird hairdos then "Hair by Christmas" ( ) in Broomhill is a great hairdressers. The prices are resonable and they're very cool and relaxed.

I'd recommend Etienne on Division Street, the student girl is really good and it's only £8 for a haircut (pikey student I know!). La Coupe is also good, but more expensive.
DON'T go to Bete Noire on Glossop Road, it's ridiculously overpriced and the 'chief hair colourist' (remain nameless) apparently doesn't know how to bleach dark hair!
My housemate gets her hair done at The Cutting Club on Devonshire Street, quite dear but it always looks good. Elite on Division Street is good if you want something really funky (Tim comes highly recommended).
Hope that helps!

Betty Tiger's on Infirmary Road are known for doing really funky stuff; they're discussed here! (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26823&highlight=betty+tigers)
