View Full Version : Gutter Clutter, what have you found?
BoppinBruce 21-04-2005, 09:57 As I walk my dogs early mornings I am never short of amazed at the items I see in the gutter, on the pavement or in the road.
I very often see the odd track shoe, a discarded sock or two, apples, this morning I saw an onion, tennis balls etc. etc.......yes it is pretty boring at that time of morning need something to keep me occupied.
I have found hockey sticks and on one occasion I found a complete set of sports tops from a local team on top of a waste bin
I wonder what the oddest thing you have found
Kristian 21-04-2005, 09:59 I always wonder what hapenned when I see discarded shoes in the street; it's not like dropping a glove is it?
Swan_Vesta 21-04-2005, 10:08 I've seen loads of weird crap littered out and about - mobile phone fascias, coats and I have also seen loads of shoes. What stikes me as odd is that these are all things you'd miss if you dropped them. On the good side, I've found numerous denominations of money ...... the best was when I was REALLY skint and stumbled across a £20 note.
cosywolf 21-04-2005, 10:10 Working for an environmental charity, I've done masses of litter picks, and I almost always find some real corkers.
So far my best finds have been an electric guitar, some speakers, and a set of false teeth.
As for the shoes...a friend once told me a story of how, as a sulky child, she sat in the back of the car with her and her parents bags, and deposited shoes out of the window every few miles just to be a brat. So that could well explain some of them...
:P
I once found two dozen pots of yogurt that had fallen from a milk lorry on a bend, we had yogurt for breakfast dinner and afternoon break at work that day. and a box of apples that dropped of another lorry after the driver gave me the finger when I flashed the lights to tell him of an insecure load, some were bruised, but we had apples for weeks after that.

Electric guitars are really easy to lose.
I must have lost a dozen or so just walking to the shop and back. :heyhey:
BoppinBruce 21-04-2005, 10:23 Probably an old sort playing guitar Hendrix style hence the false teeth as well

Iv'e got one of hendrix's old fender stratacasters, which he gave me at Woodstock.:headbang:
cosywolf 21-04-2005, 10:30 Sorry, nothing so fun. A house in Sharrow had been burgled and the stuff had been stowed for later collection...they weren't expecting the black bag brigade, lol.
Unfortunately, I took the guitar and the speakers to the police station, but they never told me I could apply to keep them if they weren't claimed. Bet those sticky-fingered cops had their eyes on the stuff, lol.
I don't even want to tell you how many bras and pairs of underwear we've found, either. Eewww.
:P

Was it yours?
You can lend mine if you like, might need a little wipe round though
Kthebean 21-04-2005, 10:39 My friend lived up there for a year and every time I went to visit him it was there, although, worryingly, not always in exactly the same spot!

Can we have an explanation of a couple of things (a) how did you know it was plastic and (b) how did you know it was a vagina is there a set model that is used to mould them. :|
Kthebean 21-04-2005, 10:46 Sure! It was not definitely plastic, may have been rubber or some other synthetic material. It was a vagina because thats what it looked like, it was a round piece of material with a middle bit that had an opening that looked exactly like the opening to a womans vagina! There really was no mistaking what it was supposed to be - the mans equivalent to a dildo, I suppose!
(Sorry if Ive lowered the tone, btw)
A few years ago, i found a cigarette end in the gutter.
I handed it in at the police station, as a model citizen would.
3 months later, i got a call saying no-one had claimed it, and it was mine  .
I have had total respect for the police after that.
ps when i collected it, i forgot to say Tar.
BoppinBruce 21-04-2005, 10:56 Was it low tar?
