can someone explain this .... i have a 1gb memory micro SD card in my nokia N73 ... when i look at it in the phone it says :-
capacity 972mb
used 17mb
free 955mb

when i try & send an mp3 to it with my bluetooth prog (with which i have never had a problem b4)it is saying the memory is full & asking me to delete some data ..... now the file i am trying to send is only 5.27 mb , so why am i having this problem ?i have turned the phone on & off a few times & restarted the application on my pc but still get the same result ... is it a dodgy mem card ?what else could be wrong ?

over to the SF techies plz HELP

a few ideas
make sure your phone is set to save to memory card not phone memory
try reformatting the card
try saving to the card from your pc using a card reader just to see if it is the phone

non tech way blow into the card slot and card to remove any dust if these all fail your cards duff

Well first of all what make is the card and where did you get it from? Then second I would try formating the card on the PC with something like the HP tool thats out there (worked wonders for me on many hard drive/flash drives) Then start again.

My phone has built in storage of about 40mb and a micro SD slot with a 1gb card in. I have to tell it where things should be stored, such as transfers, otherwise it defaults to 40mb storage.

Is it possible that yours is similar and the built in storage is full?

on a nokia N73 how do i tell it where to save to ? phone mem or SD card ..... where do i go on the fone to "tell it" where to save to ? im not sure thats the problem tho ..... if i plug the card into my card reader i can put data on it fine , i even formatted the card & when trying to bluetooth stuff to it it was still saying "full" so i may have activated "phone only memory" saving perhaps by accident , if so HOW do i tell it to save to SD card plz ... ps again its a nokia N73

If trying to bluetooth it, then it would go to your inbox first and if the allocation for that is full then you would need to deleat some messages but 5.27 MB should not be a problem normally. Once you have recieved the full file on your phone and got the tone for having recieved a message, you should sellect the file for play. At that stage goto options and one option is to save and after sellecting that you'r given a choice of to Memory card or Phone memory. If however you're not even able to recieve even after clearing your inbox, then your phone could possibly be virus infected.

if I bluetooth a pic to my N73, it arrives as a message, so perhaps the space allocated for texts is full? As far as I know that would be on the phone, and I've no idea how to change it as I only use it as a camera and a phone as a rule

When you recieve the picture, open it, then whilst viewing the picture press "options" button top left corner of keypad and first option given is to "save", press that and you have two choices to either save to phone memory or (if you have a memory card iserted) the memory card.
Then you can deleat the message from inbox to free up space again for more.
