View Full Version : Anyone know anything interesting to do with pork chops? kirky 21-04-2005, 09:29 the missis as left me in charge of tonights tea on account of her being on lates....so without using chips or egg what else can i do with the chops she's left out to defrost??? if it was upto me i'd just order a ruby Kristian 21-04-2005, 09:31 I guess cooking them in some way would improve the texture and flavour! viking 21-04-2005, 09:32 We normally grill the chops (Or George Formby) Add pepper as they cook, do some nice mushrooms chips and beans, can't go wrong. DaBouncer 21-04-2005, 09:42 With the chops stick em under the grill until they're cooked to the way you want em. While they're cooking take some Red Leicester cheese (or whatever you like) and cut a thickish slab off (one slab for each chop), about 5mm thick. Make sure you've got some apple sauce handy too. When the chops are done, take a tea spoon of apple sauce and place this on each chop, spreading thickly and evenly over each chop. Next place the slabs of cheese and place them on each of the chops. Put back under the grill until the cheese has melted.... phookin lovely. Eat them with some creamy mash potato's and some sweetcorn and peas and nice thick gravy (plain/onion or mushroom). Trust me... this meal (which I've made quite a lot) tastes amazing. Nimrod 21-04-2005, 09:43 Take em round to the nearest synagogue or mosque, that might be an interesting thing to do with em............Ooooops Im being naughty again. tallyho 21-04-2005, 09:44 honey and grain mustard glaze viking 21-04-2005, 09:45 Remember golden rule when cooking meat: When it's brown it's cooked. When it's black it's Fu**** BruciesBabe 21-04-2005, 09:47 This works better with pork escalops, but i'm sure it would be fine with chops too. Season some plain flour with salt and pepper and lightly coat the chops. Fry these off in some butter. Add a tin of tomatoes, with some basil and some veg stock and a bit of white wine. Cover and let it cook - lovely over some nice rice. redrobbo 21-04-2005, 09:49 Put them in some foil, with sliced onion rings on top, and bake in the oven. Remove top of foil for last 15-20 minutes to brown. Eat with vegetables to hand. This method softens the pork chops and is preferable to grilling. Enjoy! kirky 21-04-2005, 09:49 Originally posted by Kristian I guess cooking them in some way would improve the texture and flavour! :NOTE TO TRAINEE MOD: sarcasm is the lowest form of wit ;) viking 21-04-2005, 09:50 Originally posted by BruciesBabe This works better with pork escalops, but i'm sure it would be fine with chops too. Scallops? pork does not go very well with fish though. Chumley 21-04-2005, 09:51 Pan fry them, 5-10 mins a side depending on how thick they are. Prick with a knife to make sure the juice is clear, not pink. Put them on a spare plate and make a sauce : Fry 1/2 chopped onion (or half a dozen shallots) for 5 mins Throw in some apple slices and fry for another 2-3 mins Sprinkle some flour over the apples and onions (optional) Pour in half a pint of dry cider, bring to the boil and simmer for 3 mins. Put the chops in the sauce, add a smidgen of pepper and warm through for 3 mins Serve with tinned tatties and green beans. kirky 21-04-2005, 09:52 Originally posted by Nimrod Take em round to the nearest synagogue or mosque, that might be an interesting thing to do with em............Ooooops Im being naughty again. classic:hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: but i think i'll stick with DB'S suggestion sounds spot on:thumbsup: kirky 21-04-2005, 09:55 some top suggestions..thanks,think i'll try them all (not today like} Kristian 21-04-2005, 09:55 Originally posted by kirky :NOTE TO TRAINEE MOD: sarcasm is the lowest form of wit ;) Oooh, the irony! :D viking 21-04-2005, 09:58 I have just quoted DB's suggestion to my other half, and she agrees, it is nice. JonJParr 21-04-2005, 09:58 It's often said that the flavour that goes best with pork is apple. Therefore you might like to try cooking them in some form of apple cider. A nice Brambley apple sauce on the side and some wholegrain English mustard would be good. Maybe a bit of fresh sage? viking 21-04-2005, 10:01 Originally posted by JonJParr It's often said that the flavour that goes best with pork is apple. Anyway ask Jeeves what a scallop is  Chumley 22-04-2005, 13:27 Scallop, scollop and escallop all mean the same thing - "fan shaped". Can apply to shellfish, thin slices of meat or sliced potatos. So everybody's right  LordSnooty 22-04-2005, 15:54 Yes, take three pork chops and nail them to a tree in a vertical line. Take ten paces backwards, if space allows. Look at the chops. That's it.
