bladebloke 19-07-2008, 12:44 anybody on here having a flutter on the coming season at the bookies. or anyone care to share their tips.
think the blades will finish top 6 play off position but wont win it (hope i'm wrong for the first time on this one)
my little flutters will be.
20 notes on qpr for top spot
10 notes on billy sharp top scorer in league.
had 20 notes on chelsea to finish above man u with a mate
and 60 notes with a pig mate. 20 a derby (draw no bet) and 20 who finishes highest.

Looks like you're gonna be £60 up with the bet with your mate for a start so if any of the others go in you'll be quids in.
Anybody got any prices for the Championship?
CorkerSWFC 19-07-2008, 19:32 Going from the bottom to top i would have to go for Grimsby for league 2 at 7/1 with ladbrokes,
league 1 has surely got to be Leicester at 4/1 with betfair,
For the Championship i would have to go for Reading at a pretty decent price considering there last exploits in that league 100 and odd points wasn't it 8/1 with Ladbrokes looks a decent dabble,
finally i will have to go for Chelsea for the prem at best priced 3/1 with many firms.
My outsiders out of any league to maybe surprise a few is Notts Forest, big club, decent signings, and slightly forgotten about.
CorkerSWFC 19-07-2008, 19:51 bet365 don't fancy uniteds chances in there first match against Brum there quoting 16/5 for a united win

It looked even more likely last season...
bladebloke 20-07-2008, 10:25 It looked even more likely last season...
we had the same bet last season and finished levels.
he won 20 for the win at the sty
the lane was a level'er
and 20 for me who finishes highest.
ps. wheres the blackpool tkt thread gone.
bladebloke 20-07-2008, 10:26 oh and promotion season i took all 60 of him.
NERVY-OWL 20-07-2008, 10:57 i leave the betting to others, if i was going to bet on the euros i would of gone for holland:gag: and wednesday i would have to leave well alone
al_partridge 20-07-2008, 14:37 Wouldn't bet on QPR. They might have big backers but their squad isn't anywhere near as strong as likes of Derby, Birmingham, pigs, Reading etc

no it isnt yet but watch the big bucks fly when the season starts and the january transfer window. not 6/1 favourites for nothing. and there squad is stronger than pigs.
What price on Blunts to smash Sunderlands points record?

Qpr will suffer away from home there are plenty of clubs in the championship well ahead of them as far as squad cohesion and togetherness is concerened.
Bringing in player after player is not always the answer, it can cause unrest and if your wanting to go up you don't want to be having settling periods for players either, you need to hit the ground running this season cause this league aint gonna be as close as last season.
As mates bets go I've had a pint a match with a blades mate on Owls and Blades league games. When Wednesday play at home I just get home win, he gets the away win and draw and when Wednesday play away I get the draw and away win and vice versa with Blades games home and away... Normally means a few free pints for one of us at the end of the month although I'd say over the four years we've been doing it he's a few pints up.
As taking the bookies for a few quid I normally like an accumulator every Sat but as the league predictions go I've gone for Man Utd 6/5, Palace 10/1, Leicester 5/1 and Darlington 9/1 .. this all equates to 1452/1 so I've had a fiver each way (top two places in Prem 1,2 and 3 for t'others ) ... should pay £7439.16 :) ..
Corkers, You've quoted Grimsby as 7/1 but Ladbrokes are showing them at 28/1.. with Chelsea at 7/4 Reading 8/1 and Leicester 5/1... these equate to 4306/1 .... Just thught you'd better check before you take 7's !!!!

MICK-SWFC 24-07-2008, 17:00 Thinking about having a bet on man utd to take the title. Bolton, stoke and hull to go down. Birmingham, qpr and watford to go up and donny, bristol and blackpool to go down. Not looked at odds yet...will have to check them

Watford, no chance.
but don't take my word for it. ;)
Even speaking as an Owl you can't not say United haven't got a good chance to go up. I would say a better bet than Watford.
MICK-SWFC 24-07-2008, 19:37 I think theres going to be a few in with a chance this season. As in reading sheff utd wolves charlton est. But i think watford will bully there way up with there phyisical side. There football is rubbish but so was stokes last season.
NEKRO138 24-07-2008, 20:31 Who's going to score Watford's goals?
MICK-SWFC 24-07-2008, 20:41 I know, i think henderson is a good signing for the blades but watford must be confident with the strikers they have got to let him go.
