As you'll see from my profile, I live in Stannington, it's a nice area which until about 2 years ago was really well served by buses, nowadays we get the 65 which runs from the top end of Stannington Village, near the Crown and Glove I think, which runs from Stannington to Hillsborough twice an hour which is run by Yorkshire Terrier.

Mainline runs the 82, 83 and 83a bus routes which serve the Liberty Hill estate and go down into the terminus at Hall Park Head, and the 83s which come further up into the Village near where I live, trouble is though, these buses only run every half hour, which isn't so bad locally but when you're stuck down town waiting for one, especially at this time of year when the weather's not so good it's a bit of a pain....

Anyway the point of this thread is to see if any Mainline bus company route planners are online, and ask if they're planning on adding any additional bus routes to the upper and/or lower Stannington area, or plan to increase the frequency of existing services?

Does anyone else here live in an isolated area with crap bus timetables?

The Rural Links buses no. 61(operated by Yorkshire Terrier) run from Stannington to Hillsborough every hour on the half hour (eg, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30 etc) from oposite the police station. They are now running about 10mins later because of some road works at Storres. When this is finished they will be back to their normal time and the 63 bus will run every 2 hours (9:01, 11,01 etc) from the same place to Hillsborough.

I don't think the 65 goes to Stannington at all. This only runs on a Sunday around Strines etc.

First South Yorkshire run the 83/83A. These are 4 per hour mon-fri, 3 per hour Sat and 2 per hour Sun. However, they are not always reliable and often don't keep to their timetable.

Slightly off topic but :-
I have just come from Chapeltown on a bus which left 5 minutes early and arrived at the Crown Penistone Rd almost 10 minutes early!
Fine for me but not for any one who arrived to catch it at the advertised time.
