I am beginning to do the planning for a summer fayre.

This will be a mixture of consulting local people, entertainment, activities and fundraising.

Costs must be kept low (hence the fundraising angle) We do have a whole park to use so any ideas?

Why not prganise a car boot sale? That would pull in lots of people.

Tombola? maybe contact a few of the major shops in Sheffield to donate a prize.

Kids face painting is always a hit.

Bouncy castle?

Tombola is a good one..

We did that last year, Peter Stringfellow sent us a champagne dinner for 2 in his club, National express threw in the return coach to london and Alpha Rooms gave us a 4 star hotel !

Don't reckon Id be that lucky next time.

Which park will it be in?

We sometimes take a helicopters to events and offer pleasure flights, with some of the proceeds going to the event organisers as a contribution for their funds. It depends on which park it is (i.e. is it big enough to operate a helicopter from safely) and how many people will be there (i.e. will there be enough people to make it worthwhile?)

You could get the Fire Service in to do car washes, demos and smoke alarm selling.

Infact you could get all the Emergency services there and the armed services trailers. The marines boat simulator is fab.
The signals motorbike display team and the Red Arrows.

If you get them though Mr helicopter would have to stick to his helicopter kite which I've found no matter how fast you run it wont fly.

You can also do an Emmerdale and run a cake making competition.

Hope it works out, the scouts and cadets make great volunteers for those kind of things.

And if you ask the Fire Service really nicely, they will all turn up in inflatable ballerina tutus eh, Hadron?

Well it will be held in middlewood park and as well as the park side for the venue there are 2 football pitches away from the main area so possibly some room.

As for numbers, who can tell Im just in the planning stages at the moment.

If we get enough good stuff on the numbers should reflect that.

I know one of the organisers who did Middlewood festival last year. My advice would be not to have anything to do with it if he is still involved.
Middlewood late shopper were also involved in doing it last year from what I remember.

lol.. Middlewood Late shopper tried ....:hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

It was a total disaster but thats because it was primarily about them making money and it failed. No its totally charitable for the community. Check out the website

Middlewood Winners Ltd (http://www.geocities.com/middlewooduk/index.html)

I would not participate in anything that was 'masterminded' (ha ha) by MW lateshopper!

hi foxy??i think we know each other well??feel quite let down that you stated our event was purely for profit??you know we never asked or charged anyone?we provided free face painting, free bouncy castle, free dj competition to kids with a fifty pound prize, and mainly and formostly we started something so that others like yourself can progress with future events?winngardens and that park have been there now nearly sixty years, and no one has ever before staged a event or anything in that park for the people around the area.also was it not the same people to allow you to erect a sign on his land to show directions for little winners nursery??????oh yeah one final thing??are you not the same person he currently donated to your trip to londen, plus constantly gives you credit in the shop??just goes to show how some people are not what you think they are hey??
