Just as well its not on Sandy Lyle....he's NR ed.....and stropped off the course because its too difficult. I haven't done that since I was about 14.

Poulter's had a good start, and good to see Harrington get a decent round in with his injury. My money is on Garcia....

I don't really know which nearly-man will take advantage of the lack of 'big hitters' at the top of the leaderboard (is it just me, or do all the favourites smack of a bit of Henmanitis?)...

The guy I WANT to win it is Rocco Mediate. The guy became a legend in the manner of his defeat to Woods in the US Open. He really deserves a major, just for being so darned cool.

I don't know anything about Roco Mediate....didn't see any of the US Open I'm afraid. I'm hoping Watson or Norman can turn back the years and put in a good showing.....also hoping that whinging Monty will duff and shank his way round. Speaking of shanks....Poulter did it again...long iron from a good lie. What's that about?

Haha - you're certainly getting your wish with Norman! I kind of hope that if Mediate can't suddenly turn it on tomorrow (and let's face it, he very probably won't) then Norman sees it through; he's been on fine form and he's been playing with a smile.

The Mediate thing - he lost to Woods after 18 holes of play-off were even and it had gone to sudden death, but he was incredibly good-humoured and gracious in defeat. It's a very VERY long time since I've seen such a decent losing interview.

I have a theory that British golfers all use the same sports psychologist as Tim Henman. It would explain an awful lot.

Has anyone taken a look at Norman's Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_Norman) entry? The guy was worth $500m dollars before his (ex) Mrs settled for $100m ! :o

Hope he wins it. Always liked him.

So nice to see all the 'big' names making the best of Mr Woods' abscence.....
