I heard today that the "What's that noise?" game on Galaxy 105 is finally over. The answer was something like the cup being removed from a water cooler machine (or so I've heard).

The competition must have been their biggest money earner yet! It was such a con, the number you called was premium rate and only 1 in 1,000 calls gave you the opportunity to guess. So you have to be very lucky even to register your guess and even more lucky to work out it was a water cooler cup noise! :loopy:

Not that it's relevant now, but my guess was: The noise of a ring-binder closing. I was so sure I was right... lol :(

To start with I thought it was a rubbish idea but over time it became more and more comical especially with some of the funny guesses, it became quite compelling listening. Plus it must have been such a money spinner!!!

Moyles has started doing something like this on his Radio 1 show, and I can't understand wether it's a p***-take of this type of cheesy local radio feature, or wether it's for real.

The other day it was a dog barking, and some Irish dude rang up and said "it's a dog". Moyles thought it was hilarious and neither the Irish blok nor I couldn't understand why it was so funny. Apparently he wanted the breed of dog. How you're meant to know, I have no idea.

My friend was the 1000th caller one day but got the noise wrong. She was soooo upset!
