Right, i'm leaving work at 5.30 and will be off to Sainsburys but can't decide what to make for dinner. I do all the cooking in our house which is fine by me as it's something i enjoy. Despite having upwards of 50 cookbooks which i tend to peruse like a pitcure book i seem to have a fairly repetitive diet. I'm guessing most people rotate a number of favourite weekday meals and only branch out at weekends when there is more time.

What are your everyday meals? Maybe we can swap ideas?

Today I am cooking a spaghetti Bol.

Yesterday I did chicken in oyster and mushroom sauce, egg fried rice and noodles.

I go and see whats on offer in Sainsburys and Waitrose then make my mind up. I have no idea what I'll be making tomorrow...which makes shopping a whole lot more fun

Well, i ended up with a lovely tea - fresh penne with pancetta, jersey royals (sliced thinly and sauteed), peas, olive oil, garlic, chilli and parmesan. It's a good one for storecupboard stuff and using up potatoes - i had something very similar at the Pasta Bar and decided i could do it myself just as well without paying £9.00 for the takeaway!

It's pizza for us for tea tonight.

Does anyone else get a bit bored of having the same stuff week in week out?

Guess i need some new foodie ideas!

Breaded turkey breast steaks stuffed with parsley, garlic and black pepper butter with new potatos baked as wedges and a bag of salad.

Breaded chicken / turkey is so easy to do and to add differnt flavours to.

I have the same problem Binty and when you look at cook books half of them have an ingredients list as long as you arm and that kinda puts be off. I end up having the same stuff all the time and then get really bored of it. I like recipies that I can make a big batch of then freeze, saves having to think too much when I come home from work.

I'm trying something new tonight so will post and let you know if it's any good. It's called Moorish Skewers and is pork fillet marinaded in Moorish spices (coriander, cumin and fennel seeds, smoked paprika, bay leaves, oregano, garlic, olive oil etc) then grilled/BBQ. Going to serve it with hummus and Moroccan cous cous. Looking forward to it!

Sometimes instead of doing a main dish we just have a starter and a pudding. Tonight has been one of those nights, and we've had French onion soup with cheese croutons, followed by strawberry trifle.

Right, the Moorish skewers were very nice and very easy so recipe follows:-

(Taken from Moro cookbook)

500g pork fillet
1/2 tsp each of coriander seeds, cumin seeds and fennel seeds, roughly crushed
1 tsp sweet smoked Paprika
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 bay leaf, crumbled or chopped very finely
1 tsp oregano
1 dessertspoon olive oil
1 dessertspoon red wine vinegar

Cut the pork fillet in half lenthways and cut into 3cm cubes. Flatten them out a bit then put in a bowl. Add all the ingredients except the olive oil and mix thoroughly, then add the olive oil and mix again. Put in fridge for 2 hours to marinade.

Thread onto skewers and grill/BBQ for 2 minutes on each side or until cooked.
