View Full Version : Nights out this weekend
hiyabeing 14-10-2003, 11:49 Hey all
ANyone tell me what's going off at clubs this weekend - don't mean Bed / Gatecrasher style (but fefinately dance of SOME description) - can get them off internet. Anything particularly interesting / good??????
Hi :)
Isn't Remedy on this Friday? Just asked a friend and she thinks its at Zero these days (excuse me if I'm wrong but works firewall blocks all the local club sites out so I cant check :().
Must be something on at the Arches on Friday too surely (I know its not Headcharge this week though)?
Boss has asked (ie. co-erced) me to come to her housewarming party on Friday. Joy...
Gonna see Killing Joke at the Leadmill Saturday and no WAY am I staying for the horror show after the gig finishes so I wouldn't mind knowing what was on either.
Alternatives needed, let hiyabeing and I know folks! :)
neeeeeeeeeek 14-10-2003, 13:51 headcharge is next week at the arches, I doubt much will be on there this week. Hybrid are going a DJ set at Charles street?? opposite the tea shop I think... they are good so would like to think they will play some good tunes:banana:
Lescar back room Saturday night for some friendly free music, 8 till closing and its free and everything.
cant think of anything else that I would recommend..
Thanks mate :)
Yep I thought it was pretty quiet on the dance front in Sheffield this weekend :(
Headcharge is always good in my opinion, looking forward to the next one.
I'll second the Lescar by the way. Not too far from me and always a nice atmosphere in the back room :)
tinajones 15-10-2003, 08:57 SUB ROSA at the city hall on friday looks good.
quite diverse if i recall the flyer - richard x (liberty x and kelis remixer/producer), a guy from roots manuva (uk hiphop) mu (japanese dj) and plenty of local talent from jody wildgoose and some female vocalists.
www.shush-uk.com
this isnt remedy but the music is similar in the way that its excellent!

Cheers Tina - I just saw article on this in Metro today (no time for Forum yesterday:( ). Chesked out City Hall website - sounds entertaining, maybe a bit bizarre - but interesting!!!
It may be that we end up there.
Agent Dan 16-10-2003, 13:04 Where are hybrid playing?? Saw them a few months back and they were pure class...
fnkysknky 16-10-2003, 14:02 Hybrid played Urban Gorilla last week, this weeks line up is:
Friday 17th October
Meat Katie (Whole 9 Yards / Bedrock / Hum)
Lee Coombs (Perfecto Breaks / Fingerlickin')
Looks good :)
Agent Dan 17-10-2003, 10:33 I've not managed to find Urban Gorilla yet - where is it?
fnkysknky 17-10-2003, 12:24 Charles Street - used to be a gay club called Freedom. Just take a look on Charles St. - it's easy to find :)
DaBouncer 17-10-2003, 12:35 Just round corner from Casbah... and if you get to streetwise sports, cross the road (towards HSBC) it's the next building on!
What do people think of Charles Street ?
I went there for All things electric when it first opened up and thought it was an excellent place. Just an arse you have to walk down about three flights of stairs to get to the bottom floor...
Do like the fire escape bit aswell ... great to cool off!
Been to Urban Gorilla up there and i'm even more impressed ...
Adam Freeland blew the place....
Can't wait for the PLUMP DJ's - What a stunning line up to open the first month ... Freeland / Hybrid / Meat Katie / PLUMPS ! ! !
Plus great residents !
Well done TOM
LONG LIVE CHARLES STEET !

sorry we never met up! i could hardly get a signal on my mobile in there. i kept a beeky eye out for you. (if you look like the mental image i have of you - u arrived at the first meet up with zamo - right?) it ended up being quite busy after a slow start to fill up. what did you think of it?
i think £10 doortax is a bit steep (in any club) but i understand the wages dj's command these days so that is the root cause of that one. as a monthly event that is quite unique i guess they can get away with it. when i used to go to 'the drop' (indie/rock night in the ballroom) it was £3.50 but that was nearly a decade ago! and it was local djs.
last night my mates were so off their heads they were doing circuits round the venue, so i felt a little unsettled all night tooing and frowing amongst 3 rooms, the (still too bright) corridors, not to mention the hike to the loos.
some great music though (i didn't know where to stay!) and i will definately go to the next one. maybe i should plan it next time, like going in the main room at peak time then the dub/dancehall/reggae room at the end for a chill out!
the 3rd room was a bit odd, r'n'b sections then random stuff. on the whole a nice mix of people and a good vibe throughout - only saw one geezer get agro and he was chucked out.
